Well now the seasons over its nearly Monday and I have no GOT to look forward too :( I have watched all of cbg19's epic histories and reviews etc, played the RPG and the strategy game a long time ago (ser mors is the best character in the whole saga) and don't want to read the books as I am following the tv series and don't want any spoilers.

This has joined into my unquenchable cyberpunk hankering (which was partially sated by the cancelled series almost human) But I'm hitting up the community for opinions and suggestions :D

Cheers in advance!
try Mount and Blade, preferably Warband

I played the crap out of that a couple of years ago but thanks for the suggestion :) +1

Edit: I think I rinsed that game even before I knew about game of thrones, I found out about it in the middle of the second season and marathon watched to catch up :)

As long as you read up to a Dance with Dragons you will be safe from the spoilers. And if you are as slow of a reader as me you won't be finished with the first book until the new season starts.

There's an excellent mod to Crusader Kings 2 that would likely sate your needs as long as you enjoy grand strategy.

nice one for the suggestion but i don't really read unless I'm on holiday or travelling etc which is rare nowadays unfortunately. I read on the John but I don't have time to get into novels, my toilet books are little factbooks or non fiction etc, stuff I can just read a couple of lines of. I have 3 novels from the horus herasy series here ready to read but wont touch them until I go away in November.
I'm not too much into Game of Thrones, but the first thing that popped into my mind is the Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings 2.
Edit: Well what would you know? I'm ninja'd of course.

I like the total war series and civilization series, but tried Europa Universalis but couldn't get into it, maybe with the mod the setting would get me interested, good suggestion :D gonna do a quick google shopping search now <3
I would still recommend the books. The tv show does a great job in following the books. So if you read the first 4 books you will not get a lot of spoilers (maybe some for the beginning of next season, but not all that much). The books are great to get a lot of extra details and back story so I would read them

It does an adequate job, at best. Don't mind the direction they're taking, just wanted to point that out.

I've been looking into getting the game myself and as long as you aren't against having a Steam account I noticed at IsThereAnyDeal that GamersGate had the Collection for as low as 6.25 Euro so I'm waiting for their next big sale to take advantage of that (I think you get all DLCs except 3 or 4). :)

I know what you mean.

I really would read up to where I am now relative to the series but it would be late next year at best until I get to them. I have the next 3 hourus herasy books for when I go on holiday later this year and even if I don't want to get the next three (after the ones I have here) then I wont get around to reading the GOT books until late 2015. I can only read novels when I am away from my computer and have tons of spare time which is pretty much just when I go away :S . I read on the John but it doesn't take me long to fire one out so my toilet reading is quick titbits of information like encyclopaedia entries or factual books with short entries etc.

Edit: added (after the ones I have here) also I really really want to find out what happens with Loken

The books are the better option if you like Game of Thrones for its world and setting rather than just a certain number of characters. If you like Mount and Blade you will like Clash of Kings, a GoT themed mod for that game. To my knowledge you only need warband, if you don't own it already it's discounted on Steam right now.

The official GoT video games have been very sub par, sadly. That said, I do like the RPG, titled simply Game of Thrones. Even if the interface and the combat can be a little clunky, it's a great choice if you're into RPGs for their stories. Arguably, it has a better "alternative story" than many tv-only plots :P
CKII mod is great for your fix, but if you want a different universe, but fantasy-related stuff with some politics mixed in, maybe you'll like King Arthur RPG Wargame; it's an okay RTS, but if you like Arthurian lore, you won't scrutinize as much.
