Bloodygoodgames: Geez, who rattled your cage!!!!

Done everything you're deciding I haven't done and, no, still doesn't work. I've tried both http and downloader (downloader worse of the two).

Last option I think is to log out, clear cache etc, restart the dowloader and try the trick deshadows mentioned (substituting 1 for 6 in the dowloader - Thanks deshadowns ")

BTW, you obviously don't know how PayPal refunds work. Not that I request them often, but they refund every time if you dont' get what you pay for.

lugum: because once a while there is a post like this.
you bought a piece of software, there is no way of proving you didnt get the game.
nor that the fault lies with gog instead of your connection. try to download at another place then you can get irritated if it still doesnt work.
i had a small period too of a few days my downloads got cut off, posted here on the forum if it was just me. noone else had a problem. contacted my isp , they said my line was fine yet somehow a few hours later my problems were solved. ergo it was my connection.
Lugum, I appreciate that, but it's not my ISP. Not if I can dowload games today from BFG and Steam with the same speed as always. (I download tons of stuff every day, and this has been the first time I've had this bad of a problem in several years).

I'm giving it up for tonight, as I've wasted too much time on it already.

Figure I'll give it another shot tomorrow and, if that fails too, will unfortunately have to buy what I want elsewhere. A pity, as GOGs library is excellent. But, I already work 70 hours a week. Don't have time to waste another 10 just to get a game to download.

But hey, now I remember how WRETCHED it always was in the 90s trying to get a game to play. I'm too spoiled now to want to go back to that type of fiddling about, LOL.

Thanks anyway !

Profanity: Well it's definitely not a global thing, never experienced this personally
It's not a South East Asian thing either, I'm right next door to Thailand in Cambodia and gog downloader is as fast as any other for me.

Solved it (hopefully :)

Logged-out, deleted GOG's downloader (don't know if it was that that was clogging up the works(?), and downloaded Down It All (haven't needed to use that for eons). Fired that up, logged back in, hit 'Download with browser' and, voila, downloading away like normal.

Looks like something somewhere may hate GOG's downloader (?), but as long as I can get decent download speed with Down It All, I'm hunky-dory.

Should have Stonekeep downloaded in about 15 minutes, and I can then start on Broken Sword.

And sorry to be so irritated, but I'm at the end of a SEVERELY stressful week and having to spend hours fiddling so I could just PLAY was driving me insane. :(
Well this is nice, and I thought this had the potential for this:

I have a very similar problem. It was very frustrating, but I think it has to do with my computer, not GOG. SO I just use Free Download Manager.

I'm not sure how you didn't get what you paid for. I didn't realise you paid for fast downloads, I thought you paid for a game, which you haven't finished downloading yet.

I'm guessing the speed problem is simply due to how far away from the content servers you are.

EDIT: Never mind, I see the problem is fixed.

It's cool dude, don't sweat it

Remember: GOG support team and community is there to help you

Also: Welcome to GOG, let us know how you enjoy Stonekeep and hope to see you often here on the forums in the future :)

Played 30 minutes of Stonekeep last night, then had to stop when 3am arrived!

Awesome game, just as I remembered it. One of the best games ever released, IMO.

I do remember installing it many times in the 90s from CD, and what a hassle that was. It was always at least 30 minutes screwing around to get it up and running.

With the GOG version? Installed like a dream and one "click" on the icon to get going. SMOOTH as silk gameplay. Awesome.

Now I've solved my download problems, think my GOG wishlist will be getting a lot bigger!!

Glad to hear it man

In case you haven't seen it yet, MattChat did a pretty cool video regarding the game

Also: check out his other videos, he has a lot of great stuff, if you buy something from here: make sure to check if he has a video with an afiliate link and use that as it helps him out :)

Never seen MattChat before. Cool videos. Have subscribed! (Can't watch much right now, but will watch later today - they're sanding the side of my apartment building so they can paint it tomorrow and the noise is DEAFENING, makes it hard to hear even with headphones :)

Only in Thailand would they start something that loud at 8am on a Sunday morning!! Thai logic, sometimes, is a sight to behold, LOL.

BTW, I'm just jealous of all the cool boxed stuff he has behind him in his videos :)

I sold all my old games when I moved to Thailand 10 years ago. Dumb mistake, in retrospect.

If you could only do stuff over......... Now I'm going to spend half my time downloading everything I sold from GOG (well, at least GOG will be happy :))

Bloodygoodgames: And btw, I wouldn't be so irritated if I ever had this problem anywhere else, but I don't. Internet in Thailand, overall, is pretty fast.

But if it's like this my first shot here, it doesn't bode well, does it :)

lugum: sound to me you are just trolling. why isnt the majority not having problems then?
and before you give anyone a chance to help you you just get irritated and say how bad gog is. if you get a good speed somewhere else and not here it can still be a problem on your end. like you might turn off your security software suite's firewall but if you forget to turn off your windows firewall it doesnt help. and just open your ports then you wont ever have to bother with turning it off.

think you could forget about a refund too, doesnt work like that

and in my own opinion, http works better then the downloader
You shouldn't be too hard on new member. It just normal if he was angry with GOG given his circumstances.
To OP, maybe you need to fiddle little bit with "no. of concurrent connections" located at GOG downloader option. I change mine to 10, and the downloader download at full speed with no lost connection.

Thanks wormholewizards for suggestion. Will try more with GOGs downloader when I have chance. Just not this weekend :)

BTW, two things - see you're in Malaysia. My second favorite country in the world (after Spain), I get there every few months - gorgeous country, amazing people, great food!

And btw, I'm a SHE, hence the hissy fit when I have to mess around too much to get stuff to work, LOL, but you weren't to know that. :)

Great to see someone love like our country since our political climate recently not so good (protest, demo, general election is near etc.), i hope those things will not scared tourist or people on business trip. By the way, apologize for the gender mistake. It's quite unexpected actually.
