Something you might not know about me is that I have collected coins in varying levels of interest for most of my life!

I have a mix of US/Canadian/World silver, highlighted by some very nice BU pieces. I also love US Proof sets and Presidential dollars.

Yes, I do. My own collection probably looks vastly different as it mostly covers the Imperial Roman Coinage between Caracalla and the collapse of the Western Empire.

As a kid, I'd go through pennies and keep 3 oldest ones that I had found so far.

I think I had one that dated back either to the 40s or 50s (can't remember anymore, but 1947 sticks in my mind so it's probably it). For all I know, it might still be around somewhere.

However, I hate pennies now and I'm thrilled that they are scheduled to go.

Probabilistically, you'd think that the money that changes hands most often is the filthiest, so I inferred that anything below a quarter ought to be downright filthy thought I still wash my hands after handling any type of money.

Also, pennies just weight down your pockets.

I keep a box of collector's coins in the back corner of my sock drawer. It's mostly commemorative quarters for things like the Olympics or all the provinces.

Not really.
But 15 years ago I buried some old silver coins in the garden of a relative that I bought from a local Souq in Saudi Arabia. To think of the face of whoever digs them out by coincidence, makes my grin in advance. Because they look much more valuable as they are. ;-)

My brother got an Imperial coin that came with the Xbox collector's edition of Oblivion.. ^^'

Also my best friend offered me a 2001 Fine Silver One Dollar. It has a sentimental value ^^ don't really care about the material value though.

In these troubled times I wish I had a collection of these ...:-P

I doubt its worth anything but in my collection of coins I have a blank coin that is the exact shape and size of a penny, pretty sure its made of pure copper, though not sure how to check without ruining it.
