Having Wing Commander I and II up here would be AWESOME. I cannot begin to explain how much I love and long for them again. And the kilrathi saga costs over 100 dollars on Ebay. I can't afford that!
I remember there was this watered-down Wing game from Xbox Live Arcade, and I bought it. It was OK, but I LOVED the old ones! Why don't they make games like this anymore?
well they were Origin games and are now owned by EA so the chances are limited at best

They don't appeal mainstream players and so won't sell enough. Same for Freespace.

Because they don't hold your hand while you are playing them. Because the developers are either held back from making these kind of games or they don't care or they're trying to cash in on the Current Big Shit in Gaming, which coincidentally is .....shit. Because the publishers are slaves to Marketing. Because God forbid gamers get something they enjoy.
I could go on but my Rampant Cynicism button is flashing, which means I have written my full quota of cynical commentary.
No.

Weclock: No.

We should just have a giant sign on the forums that says Before you ask, no, we don't have any EA games, and we won't ever have them.
Activision games, however, are another matter, as I've seen Zork Grand Inquisitor on GameTap. Frankly, if Activision gave GoG the rights to republish the entire Zork series here on GoG (or any of Infocom's older text adventures), I'd be set for life.

more like
Before you ask, no, we won't add a game just because you made a forum post about it, and no we won't tell you about the game, until it's done deal. keep asking and we'll switch to good old productivity software (GOPS) and not carry any games, you bastards!
If they added games just because they're the most requested, chances are we'd have System Shock 2 by now.
you bet your ass.

No! I like it when you're typing furiously on cynical stuff!

We'd have it nearly 4000 times now. Hmm, wonder what percentage of the sale price that GOG pockets, say 4000 sales at $6 each is $24000. Assuming gog gets 50% the that'd be a nice $12000

Companies change.
EA have cut their workforce by 10% and are reducing the number of new games they produce. This sort of thing often makes companies re-think how they licence their intellectual property.
If I can buy Sonic on my Nintendo, I can't think of any good reason why I won't be able to buy Wing Commander from GOG in the future.

because I said so (and because usually when I say so, GOG goes ahead and does it anyway).
One can always dream; they where up on gametap once upon a time. I did not know if the GOG team was trying to get anything worked out with EA but I'm sure they're a bitch to deal with. If something could ever be worked out I am sure that I (and others of my generation) would love to replay WC1 and WC2 and Privateer without any DRM.
I can always dream. The origin catalog has so many great games I would love to play again. They having Wing Commander, System Shock 1 (loved 2 BTW), the Ultima games (not my cup of tea but know they are well loved), and the Crusader games. I'll just keep my fingers crossed. It can't hurt.
PS. I love this site! I love having fallout 1 and 2 again and freespace 1 and 2. Will get around to snagging Jagged Alliance 1 and 2 as well (some oldies from growing up).
