OKAY, my mother out of the kindness of her heart bought me the jeweled case (IS that what they call games that are released at Walmart for $10?) copy of Battlefield 1942. I never played a game from this series, so I thought 'Sounds fun.' After thanking her I installed it. That went well. I clicked on the run shortcut. WELL....
I got a little message that looked like the top image, so I tried unplugging my USB's and tried again. No help. Restarted my computer. Uh..nope. Reinstalled...Nope, same thing. Any idea how the fuck I fix this? Because I would really like to try it out...

Jewel case is the clear plastic, like music CDs. As for your problem, turn off the debugger.

Erm...it is by default from what I've scavenged. Any idea how?
Oh I have no clue, I was just being a smart ass. Hopefully someone else can help you though, I have heard that they are fun games.

Do you have an ATI video card, ?
Is it just the bf1942 without expansions? Do you patched it already?
And what OS you use? xp sp3, vista, 7?

Try ending all your processes except for the ones that keep your computer running, it's possible that one of your processes is the debugger. Careful though, you could crash your computer if you accidentally end the wrong process.
Debbuger:
Start > Run
Type msconfig in the box, press enter.
Go to the 'Boot' tab, click on advanced and see if the Debug checkbox is ticked.
If you have MS Virtual Studio disable the JIT Debugger.
Although Safedisk is complaining about a debbuger you might also want to look into process explorers or drive emulation software you may have running...
If you have an ATI Card, i seem to remember some problem with ATI drivers. The fix, i think, was to do a clean sweep and remove every ATI file with a driver cleaner app and do a fresh reisntall of the drivers.
I can't offer much advice, except to keep trying. Battlefield 1942 is a blast, as are most of the series' other games. If it doesn't work out, get Battlefield 1943 when they finally decide to release it on PC, or get Bad Company 2. Battlefield 2 Complete is also $30 on Steam.
I have Vista, my graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1270 (Go ahead, laugh.), and I can not find the MS Virtual Studio so I'm sure I don't have it. Debug isn't ticked, I can't find a single emulation software on my computer, and @ TheCheese33, this is a 'school' laptop. I'm lucky that I can even run Half-Life 2 on medium settings. =)
I'll keep trying, worst case scenario I have to get a cracked version of this piece of shit.

Should've gotten Battlefield 2 Complete Collection for $15 on Steam earlier this week. That would solve all your problems.

Perhaps you didn't read this, but I didn't buy the game. Hell, I most likely can't even run it (Battlefield 2)! And I've read that this series has Vista issues so not really my fault now is it?

I still prefer 1942 to the later games -- especially Vietnam, which was a disaster. 2 was fun for a while, but it failed to capture the feeling of exhileration that BF1942 had. I think it's the fact that BF1942 had tighter maps as compared to 2, whose maps felt off. Had great fun with the Galactic Conquest mod for 1942 - my most favourite mod to date.
Start by making sure you have patched the game to the latest, Vista-compatible version.
Try running "as administrator" and / or in some compatibility mode.
Or drive out Vista with five clovers of garlic and a stake, and install Win7.

You know why 1942 was the best one? GIGANTIC DESTROYER GUNS. And submarines. My fave map was the pure aerial warfare with two opposing carriers. The later BF incarnations completely eschewed boats for some stupid reason. Plus the planes in 1942 are really, really fun, especially compared to them in the BF2, where they go so fast it isn't really fun. Helis, on the other hand, are a blast.
