tsgnurk: I dono i like some of the things ananymous stands for, problem is its not an organization any1 can take on the name so it's such a chaos of different agendas.
Still some of the "protests" like taking down some useless website for a few hours/days were really meaningless, and i doubt many cared.

As to people against "protesting" because of the damage that is just a rediculus thing to me...
Protests ARE GONNA cause damage ofc, and the more important the case the more damage is a general rule.
Do you think the Englishmen liked the American protestors leading up to 13-colonies breakout?
Do you think the french royalty&their supporters and even the commonmen "enjoyed" the damage of the french revolution (on which we tribute the invention of devestating devices such as the "guillitine" which was in AMPLE use during that revolution)

All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.
Woooo oh boy.

First we get Paypal is a monopoly, now we're comparing this event to the French and American revolutions?

What are they protesting again, Assange or...?? Or are they just doing it to go after the ambiguous hippy enemy called "people in any way associated with money"?

hedwards: I'm suggesting that nobody does business with them that has any choice. Creating a monopoly and abusing the hell out of it is not what I would consider earning the money. That's rent keeping and it's parasitical.

stoicsentry: They're a monopoly in the sense that Steam is, perhaps. So if that's what you mean, OK...
Sigh, I should have remember not to feed the troll.

Paypal is frequently the only option for paying for things. As in you use Paypal or you don't buy it at all. Merchants dealing with international orders have very few options other than Paypal.

To compare it with Steam just highlights your ignorance on the subject.

PayPal is a monopoly, This sort of BS is why I have so little respect for corporatist apologists.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't change the fact.

What exactly makes PayPal a monopoly?

EDIT: oops. I guess you already answered that :P

Odd, all of my purchases online have the option for credit cards, moreso than paypal. Maybe you need to purchase at more organised websites?
The only thing I have learned from this topic is that I hate stoicsentry. That, and I shouldn't have clicked this topic. I regret clicking this topic.

As i previusly stated thats the problem, its not really organized its like infinite different agendas mixed together, but some of the originals are in my mind good (subjective ofc)

And im comparing the idea of damage to the revolutions yes, this is ofc much smaller and damage is much smaller to, scaled if you would :)

That's a weird definition of monopoly.

Please provide an example of a non-monopoly, you commie/syndicaist/something-else apologist.

stoicsentry: Are you really suggesting that Paypal has never provided a service for anyone?

Facepalm.

"The exclusive possession or control of the supply or trade in a commodity or service."
-Monopoly

Sorry to lazy to find a proper deifnition, first 1 on google will have to do, if what you say of paypal is true (and im not convinced it is) it still would only make it close-to-monopolized not truely monopolized.

Yeah, I've honestly never seen a website where paypal was the ONLY option. I'm sure there are some, but that hardly makes them a monopoly.

Well I for one have to give them (Anonymous) credit for publishing the Video and Picture of those filthy rapers in Ohio - without which the case may have never seen the light of day. I hope they follow through and expose everyone who is trying to help cover up what happened there.

Skunk I apologize for reacting the way that I did to you. However, that was really immature of you to get personal. There was/is really no need for that.

Wtfbbq.

Anonymous aren't anonymous because they're skilled. That's a common misconception. Anonymous are Legion. That's important. There's a lot of script kiddies, and they are capable of collective action once someone in the top 1% writes the script in question. There's a chance that an individual kiddie gets v&, but it's not higher than the chance to be v& for any other reason, and as long as people do not give in to blind panic (see: vaccination) are are still participating, everything's right in the world.

Yeah for sure, it's delegation at it's finest. I personally love the idea of anonymous, if not always agreeing with their targets/methods. If only we could mobilize the public in this fashion, we could make this place a paradise.
