Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I notice that the full weight of reality is finally falling on the script kiddies. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21187632

There are probably some hardcore nasty crackers in there (who are probably wise enough to get the peons to do the traceable stuff), but most people in the poorly named Anonymous are naive kids who think they're untouchable. Hopefully it will be a wakeup call to them, but I doubt it.

I sure was glad when all those 60s and 70s protestors got their "wake up call", we were all better off for it! Clearly the show trial (which cost the state massive amounts of money, no doubt) will be easily repeatable for the 10s of 1000s of other kids just like these miscreants!

After coming out of jail (or should I call it gaol?) they will surely hold no animosity towards society and any post jail stigma associated with them won't cause them to further menace society.

Yeah, they're protesting against the system? No, they're enjoying kicking someone because they think they can. They're not a freedom group, they weren't trying to protect rights or highlight injustice, they were idiots indoctrinated by cowardly little shits that in the end sold out their own.

You protest with your identity, they are free to. They were on a power trip, knew they were wrong, but liked the kick.

You most definitely are not required to protest with your identity, the right to speak anonymously has frequently been used to fight for and protect western ideals and freedoms.

The way you're painting them is typical of anyone who disagrees with their point, I don't have to agree with their point to grant that they're effectively doing nothing more grandiose than a "sit-in".

Seriously, how hard is it to believe kids are alienated by our system? Fuck, I'm alienated by our system most of the time.
18 months of jail for DDoS? What an inane decision. However, it's UK, they jailed a guy who said in comments that soldiers should die and go to hell, so no surprise.

I think PayPal allegedly losing 3.5 Million Pounds was the reason why they got 18 months, not so much the DDoS.

I don't really agree with that, they aren't kicking someone weaker than them aorund like so small family business, they are kicking the giants who barely notice it, and risk receving exemplary punishment for it.

I don't completely agree with the whole anonymous stuff most of the time, but I can say I kind of respect them.

Sure you can protest anonymously, but I don't think they had the need to.

I get some of what you said, however I disagree that it's similar to a sit-in. Such analogies simply do not scale. When so few can disrupt so much it becomes more of a blow the door up from afar than a sit in.

Actually, the "wake up call" that you felt such objection to, was not to refer to the punishment these people are getting, it was to refer to the title of the thread. They aren't anonymous. They are being used, and they are being misled. I'm hoping this will help their members to understand that they are not anonymous.
Did anybody see the documentary Hacktivisists which was about Anonymous?
There's a difference between protesting and fucking with people in a real way just because you dislike them.

Do you think that gives you a right to cause £3.5m in damages to paypal?

Sometimes I feel I'm talking to Scientologists with some of the crazy **** you guys say.

They did £3.5m in damages - more than that, in fact. What the hell does it not being a mom and pop have to do with anything? Are you people ****ing serious?

So you're completely OK with people running around robbing others willy-nilly? Why?

Who the eff are you, the Joker?
high rated
Why is it that when people do what we agree with, they are fine or even exemplary, but when they do something we disagree with, they are "being used" or hoodwinked or are uneducated or stupid or are subject to foreign influences or have the wrong religion so they don't count or are too young to know what they are doing or talking about or too old to know what they are doing or talking about or are too rich or too poor to know any better or are just jealous or hate us for our freedom or have stupid hair or are unpatriotic or are nuts or evil?

Um, simply put - it's not.
