Well, i was in doubt about Kotic, this came as a little surprise.. But still, i wonder..
From the wiki entry on Betrayal At Krondor:
"Contrary to popular belief, Vivendi Universal Games has stated that the game is not free to be redistributed by others. [5] It had previously been available, free to download, from Sierra's website, coinciding with the release of its would-be spiritual successor, Betrayal in Antara."
Now, since Sierra was keen to release BaK for free, Vivendi was not, what does Activision and GOG have to say?
BaK as a freebee sounds unreal, and a bit too good to be true.
What do You guys think?
Activision ? great
the war has started. :)
I just bought GK. Love the series. Hope for more.
*crosses fingers for Starsiege release*
I know I'm gonna come off as a huge nerd, but I hope to god that they can get Starfleet Command 3 and Bridge Commander. Awesome, awesome games. I managed to break my copy of SC3 and its a pain in the ass to find for a reasonable price.

Gilthanaz: That wasn't worth a countdown of several days, see...

It wasn't worth the leak.. But the countdown? Absolutely.
You might not like Arcanum or Gabriel Knight, but they are considered classics.
And to have Activision sign on? Seriously? I think hell just froze over.
Congratulations GOG! Though whhhhy the leak? Especially when it made the countdown redundant? (if there was an extra surprise, for example)
Either way, well done. _b

Raymond E. Feist or who ever he has given rights for his world might have a say in that. A bit like the situation is with all the PC ad&d games.
But if they can offer it here and don't want to give it free they can always bumble the games together.
Awesome news. Getting such a major publisher is a big step for GOG. Two very nice games to start the festivities with as well, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the month of Activision brings.

Drelmanes: This is great! :D
But please GOG, don't make more countdowns, they raise the expectation too much high, and it's bad to the heart :[

Next time we'll invent something else, but who know if it will be better for the heart. We have some other much more crazy ideas;)
does this mean we might get a release of ToEE?? please say yes!!!!

Crazy ideas are fine, the weak will perish, survival of the fittest.
Acti-WHAT THE HELL ?! oO
Activision signing a deal with GOG ? holy freaking Gog ! O_O
They agreed on the No-DRM rule ? On the low price ? woaw
On one side, it's "Yeah ! More games on GoG !"
While on the other side... Activision ?! I'll never give a cent to Kotick and his clique, with EA they are the Beast to hate, the worst specimen of publisher on Earth, seeing GoG dealing with them, eww !
I guess the Beast is so big, that there's some cheap salesmen/manager/marketing monkeys pushing the DRM, "DLC", monthly fee business model, the sh*t Kotick keeps saling to the investors
while there a microscopic "experimental business model" department, putting one tiny egg in "uncommon baskets "in case of future market change"
=> IMO they're still freaking mad at Steam for getting "at least" 30% (guess) on their games on Steam, if they had their own digital platform they could have won the pile of money Steam is collecting now on every sales, sadly for Activision they were too rigid and narrow-minded to let that kind of project live...
that post is a big random guess of course, I like to do that all the time :D
---
Anyways, getting a GoG-compatible deal with Activision is just GoG-like : epic awesomeness, congratz GoG Team ! :D

Well, I sort of hate Activision as a company thanks to Bobby Kotick, but I'm trying to be excited for this.
However, none of the top 10 games that fans here crave are a part of the Activision catalogue.
That makes me a little sad, for obvious reasons.
I'd rather have Planescape: Torment or System Shock 2 be the only games released for 2 months than a month full of games that aren't that important to the community.
But, I do like what this sort of addition says for the long term solvency of GoG as a whole, so I'm not completely bummed by it.
Please, please, pleeeeeeaaaaassssse release all the Sierra Leisure Suit Larry games AND Phantasmagoria. LSL series was what got me into PC gaming first back in the day.
Activision, Woohoo! Thanks GoG for working hard on getting a major (and awesome) publisher onboard! Now heres to hope for Star Trek: Elite Force, and Mechwarrior 2!
