Kingoftherings: I don't really know of any old-ish Activision games, but hopefully some of the old iD games are released here. I haven't had a chance to play Doom 3 yet. :P
I wonder if Activision has the rights to Doom 1 and 2, or if iD/Bethesda has them.

"id, Wolfenstein, DOOM, QUAKE, Enemy Territory and related logos are registered trademarks or trademarks owned by ZeniMax Media Inc."

Hope they'll join gog.com too. :)
Does that mean we're going to get
Caesar II, Caesar III, Pharaoh/Cleopatra, Zeus/Posiedon, Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom?
It would be nice :)

IIRC, Activision got the rights for Quake IV, Quake Wars and the Hexen II: Portal of Praevus expansion.
EDIT: the remaining games are all by id and zenimax (bethesda).

Ooh I want Vampire: Masquerade soo badly!!!
Congratulations GOG! You're now playing with the big guys. :)

BoxOfSnoo: Meh.
Activision as a whole might provide some good games, but the first two releases? Did they really HAVE TO both be horror/fantasy RPGs?
Here's hoping for Sierra...
avatar
Catshade: Uh...Gabriel Knight is a Sierra game. And it's point-and-click adventure. I never played the game (or most classic adventure game) and I even know this. >_>

Ok, fine, and Empire Earth is already Sierra, too. If it's YAHG (yet another horror game) I tend to skim right over it.
But looking at this list I see a lot more interesting and varied things than strictly Activision stuff... I'm just not that blown away yet.
Though I will admit, this is a big publisher, and therefore a very big deal. I just wish as the representative games starting off the same big deal, they would have had two *different* types of games.
Civ:CTP or Mechwarrior 2? Or Rome:Total War (maybe too new).
I wonder if Activision have the right for Birthright: Gorgon's Alliance - it was from sierra which later became (or merged, cant remember now, right me if I am wrong) vivendi - because that was a really good adaption of the AD&D for pc. Also I would like to see Medieval 1 on GoG.
please let there be Mechwarrior2.
64-bit windows won't run it at all and my CD doesn't have the dos version on it so DOSBOX is not an option
While I thank GOG for this awesome news and for their unexcelled ;-) work, I advise to change "It's now official, we're bringing you the biggest announcement in GOG.com's history - Activision with it's wealth of PC gaming gems [...]" with its ;-)
This is great! :D
But please GOG, don't make more countdowns, they raise the expectation too much high, and it's bad to the heart :[
I am excited for all the classic Sierra adventure games and Zork!
Ok, for this month let's go with:
interstate '76!!!
Spycraft: The Great Game
Sin
Shogun, Medieval, Rome: Total War
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Battlezone 1&2
Tony Hawk 1-3
Pitfall
Civilization
Star Trek: Bridge Commander (if they still have that license)
Call of Duty 1&2
Blood Omen
Hidden and Dangerous (if they still have that license)
Classic Text Adventure Masterpieces of Infocom
Dark Reign 1&2
Gun
Heavy Gear 1&2
Hyperblade
Soldier of Fortune 1&2
Twinsen's Odyssey
I guess mechwarrior is out?
Does this also include old Sierra and Fox interactive games, like No One Lives Forever??

Lots of great gems to be had in Activision's vault. Glad to have them in!
However it's a shame that they're anally violating all of their current development houses like they are going out of style.

WingedKagouti: The "Isn't game x and y published by Activision" can be answered by looking here.

Well, that list is a start. But Gabriel Knight was also not published by Activision. So that isn't the entire list.
Nice acquisitions GOG! Best since Tex Murphy IMO.
I''l be downloading Gabriel Knight when I get home. Never played the first one, just Beast Within and the 3rd one. Nothing like the tape splicing puzzle in BW, I hope. That was soooo hard.
P.S. Please release Phantasmagoria. I've been dying to play that for years.
