I can't really say I'm glad, I had visited many sites in the past which were ruined (abandoned or changed completely from what they were and aimed for) after they "partnered" with them. Hope this will not be the case with GoG.

Look at ti this way: it isn't GOG giving away free games to Curse, Curse is buying those games from GOG and then handing them out to its premium subscribers.

While this may look like a bit weird, to me this really just seems to be merely another marketing move by GOG. I doubt there will be much of anyone from the GOG crowd to actually use and/or pay for that site. Rather I expect some people who are already users there to check out GOG instead.

I'm wondering how much Curse.com had to pay the hacker to hijack an admin account on GOG.com and post this.

Seriously now, I have no idea what's going on here and I especially have trouble determining how this is a good thing.

I just remember curse from my WOW days and they were related to some bad parties at the time i think. Mostly bad connotations in memory.

This is a ... really weird partnership.

Their site is doing an incredibly terrible job explaining what it is they do exactly. From what I can gather they offer a client to manage mods for some supported games. And you can pay for a premium account so it actually saves your settings. Great, I guess?

Also it looks like the supported games are mostly MMO and always-online games, so IMHO exactly the opposite of what GOG.com offers.

Yeah, I don't see this as a bad thing for GOG either since it doesn't sound like it will have any impact whatsoever on GOG's service.

However I am very confused by it. I looked over the Curse site and I'm not sure what it is or why I'd pay for it. I already have plenty of games on Steam and GOG, and I can get a lot of mods from fan-sites. I don't like the idea of playing a beta (if it's a game I really want, I'll wait for the full version), so what else does the site offer aside from that? It looks like there are giveaways, but I'm not paying for a membership just to be entered in raffles for games I probably already would have bought myself if I wanted them.

Can't say I have much of anything positive to say about Curse. Certainly they don't offer anything worth my buying a premium membership. Also, this announcement doesn't actually say anything about what features or advantages does this partnership bring us -- free games is all nice, but they're not really free if you have to pay for a membership to get them, so what else? Is there even anything that this partnership brings us that we didn't already have?

Can we have some official response on this?
