As the old saying goes, calling atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair colour, or saying that "off" is a television channel.

Atheism can be either the belief that there is no God or the simple lack of belief either way. A child born with no knowledge of God or religion is an atheist. A person isolated from the world and grew up never encountering a religious idea is an atheist. It denotes the simple lack of belief, nothing more.

A lack a proof is not the same as saying that there is no evidence one way or the other. However, there is logical proof that God necessarily exists.

Belief is dangerous. Like arguments about music or politics, it can never be resolved or quantified, hence the eternal nature of our fight against it. Belief is the root of all evil, not money or people.
There are many things that we believe, some are good, some are bad. On the other hand, the love of money always leads to evil.

It's funny how an unpopular opinion and/or dissent is classified as trolling. You can only BELIEVE there is no god, you cannot KNOW, so thus atheism is a BELIEF system that devalues observation and rationality, like all other religions.

I don't really see why the religious get so funny with atheists. They are atheists themselves with respect to 99% of all the gods that have ever been worshipped. We proper atheists just take it one god further...

PS - Atheism is not a belief ;)
