Atheism is the negation of theism, so they both can't be true at the same time. If atheism is simply just a lack of belief in God, then it would be possible for both atheism and theism to be true at the same time.

To be fair, the purpose of evolution is not to explain how life emerged from no life.

I think it's better to say that everything that begins to exist has a cause. The universe may or may not have had a beginning, but if it did, it had a cause.

Theists believe without proof that there is a god.

Atheists believe without proof that there can be no god. Two sides of the same coin, not opposed.

Belief is dangerous. Like arguments about music or politics, it can never be resolved or quantified, hence the eternal nature of our fight against it. Belief is the root of all evil, not money or people.

Honestly, that's a pet peeve of mine. Not all atheists specifically disbelieve in a god, some just don't believe in one. They're not really agnostic either. Somebody walking around without knowledge of religion would be an atheist who doesn't specifically believe there is no god.
