10 million downloads (and I assume they are talking only of the legitimate purchase variety) in 3 days. Not too shabby.

I think it's great fun, though I don't care for the inclusion of consumable micro-transactions. Your thoughts?

I probably will never buy something for a phone... especially not some casual crap.

The game is free (or $1 if you want an ad-free version.)

Adware != freeware. :p

I've way too many games to be wasting my time on casual ones.

It's free on Android but I think Windows Phone users have to pay.

Yup, $3, IIRC.

Are they any different than how the consumables always were? I mean the Eagle was a micro transaction "I win" button that you could use to just bypass a level once (though you'd still have to beat it later and I think you could only use them so often).

I played the original on my friend's phone not too long ago, definitely better than I expected. Anyway, I would probably be willing to pick it up if the PC version wasn't horribly expensive compared to the phone version...

Previously, the eagle was a one time purchase "I win" button that you could use once per hour. Angry Birds Space introduces the pay per use model:

99¢ for 20 uses
$2.99 for 80 uses
$7.99 for 280 uses
$19.99 for 980 uses

I mean, it's not a big deal. I don't use the eagle anyway. I simply don't like the slippery slope.
