Hello.

I'm not going to delete my account, but I still have a technical question :

If I delete my account, what about games already bought ? Can they work after that ? For example : I buy a game on GoG, I download it, then I delete my GoG account. The game will work or not ? I really own the game on my computer after downloaded or not ? I know that on websites like Ste*m we lose games access if delete...

Thanks

Yes, you can. The whole site is called DRM-Free for a reason you know. You don't need any kind of internet connection to install and play your games once you have downloaded them.

All of the ones you have downloaded will be with you forever though you cannot re-download them again if you delete your account of course but as long as you have the copies on a dvd or flash drive they are yours for all time.
As said above, yup, you can install and play anything you've downloaded without any need for GOG or your GOG account.

Just keep in mind that if you don't have a GOG account you won't be able to download the latest updated version of the game when it's released and you'll miss out on any other extras that get added to the game at a later time.

Of course you won't be able to retrieve more updates and goodies from GOG, but as they said, the things you downloaded are mostly yours. Note that for games with serial keys, you should write down those keys first before having the account deleted. GOG unfortunately is not 100p DRM free for technical reasons (it still has CD keys on some games), but enough that you can install and use the games indefinitely* if you collect all the information about it that is provided

But luckily you won't delete it anyway. Not sure if that even would be possible.

* Provided you still manage to have the hardware and software to run it on. At some point that will be the biggest issue with the preservation of today's games. As an in-site example, older installers from years ago might not have a Windows 8 playable version.

No you won't, because you'll love it ;-)

Nah, you won't, but if you would, you wouldn't be able to re-download your stuff and further patches anymore.

Everything you've downloaded works, no matter what you do with your account.

You do.

That's why GOG is the best and Steam, well, let's say the second winner.

Buy a game, download it and you can use it on each of your computers, without any Internet connection and no matter what you do with your account.
Thank you very much, well GoG is great. Basically I prefer buy physical CD/DVD, but some of them needs Steam (isn't normal I think but so...), by the way the DVD isn't sufficient to play.
GoG seems more honest than Steam, if a game bought still in buyer ownership.

A last question, is it possible/legal to burn a game bought by GoG on a CD/DVD (for a personal using of course) ? I love physical DVD

Yes, as long as it is for your use only. No selling it :)

If you're going to burn your games to disc, you may be interested in the Unoffical DVD covers for GOG games thread. You can print your own covers for your games and have a nice little library of CD/DVDs with great covers.

I dont think its possible to delete your steam account

But it seems rather easy to have your access deleted for no apparent reason.
Remember that burns don't last forever. Only a few years.

what access? they stopped disabling entire account for various reasons now from a longtime back, The maximum penalty you can for proven fraud, theft , hijacking , phishing etc is disabling of cd key activation, steam market and steam store purchases you can still play previously owned games though.

Any game access is only revoked if it's proven it was a fraud ,theft or any purchase issues , i assume any other game store does the same thing when such a issue is encountered.
[see recent sniper elite 3 stolen keys issue]

otherwise its close a fight with steam support to get a game access be removed , now they recently added a remove button for the f2p games that are added to your account

here is the article on removing accounts , its borderline impossible unless you convince steam support otherwise
