Well in a few months these games' prices will freefall, as they won't sell more than 300k copies on PC.

orcishgamer: Alright, I am going to start a bit of a flamewar here and I know, in actuality, this stuff goes back and forth, I just wanted to point out, PC games are not always cheaper, not by a longshot:
I expect they get cheaper in the long run as old console games become less available while PC games continue to be sold (yay GOG!). Though I admit that's not quite the point you made :) One other thing... eke, not eek. That mistake annoys me almost as much as faze/phase -_-

I'm not sure if comparing sale prices for console games to full prices for DD games is a fair comparison.
PC DD sales can also be very good - right now Steam and Amazon are having some fantastic deals.
I think the console market and PC DD market more or less operate differently. Both have sales, but they may not always overlap. However it does seem like digital games tend to have cheaper sales sooner than consoles. I could be wrong, though.

My TV has a green spot in the center of the screen. I would need a new TV to properly enjoy console games anyway :(
Borderlands 2 can for an example be found for 269 sek (boxed) but even though it is 25% off on Gamer's Gate, they still sell it for 322 sek (ordinary price 430).
Interestingly enough, the console versions of Borderlands 2 have also dropped in price quite fast, and the best price is 289sek (both Xbox & PS3). Using a price comparison site to get those numbers, does not include postage.
The best prices for boxed copies for the other games listed (PC/Xbox/PS):
Mass Effect 3 120/189/165
Need for Speed most wanted (PC only has limited edition up for sale, other are standard): 49/122/398
Assassin's Creed 3: 249/430/430 (WiiU 398).
orcishgamer: I hear all the time that Steam makes PC gaming cheaper, and that's primarily DD (few people buy Steam games boxed in comparison).
FWIW, I agree with the sentiment you expressed, DD gaming should be cheaper.
Digital distribution sales seem to drive down the price of boxed copies of PC games, as stores need to at least vaguely match the prices of these sales to sell a lot of units, past the first month or two. Digital distribution sites often sell games at a relatively high price outside of sales, but boxed copies can be found cheaply. With the exception of the one-two-day Steam/Gamersgate/whatever sales, PC retail games are almost universally cheaper on disc than they are in download here in Germany. In fact, my experience in the UK has been the same - buying boxed PC games online from the UK has been generally cheaper than EU Steam, which is an accomplishment in its own right.
As a rule of thumb in terms of prices
Console download > PC download > Console disc > PC disc

Console gaming will always be cheaper, since the console themselves are much, much, cheaper, and console games are ruled by the laws of supply/demand, which means the prices reflect actual market prices, instead of protectionist ones set by publishers in the case of digital downloads.

a) Console games will move to digital as well b) console gaming is NOT always cheaper but actually depends on how many games you buy during its life. If you buy over 20 games, PC gaming is cheaper.
c) "Supply and demand" work the same way for boxed PC games and because there's less demand, the prices are lower than console ones.
And really, this topic is a sad excuse to start an argument by comparing apples and oranges. Why don't you try comparing digital downloads between the PC and console? It also completely forgets that we have dozens of sales each year where games are priced ridiculously low, waaaay lower than retail games could ever go. You could spend $20 and get 3-4 great games - good look doing that for consoles! (and no, second hand does NOT count)

On Amazon right now
Borderlands 2
Xbox: $34.99
PS3: $34.99
PC Download: $59.99
Mass Effect 3
Xbox: $21.70
PS3: $22.73
PC Download: $29.99
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
PS3: $29.99
Xbox: $29.99
PC Download: $49.99
Assassin's Creed III (this one isn't quite as "fair" since its PC release was yesterday, while the console release was over a month prior)
Xbox: $34.99
PS3: $34.99
PC Download: $49.99
Yep, there's some titles that go the other way (Darksiders II, The Walking Dead, due to their digital download sales right now), and there's many that are pretty much the same price (e.g. Dishonored, Sleeping Dogs).
If you toss in the ability to trade in, resell, or swap your games after you're done, you eek a bit more value out of the console versions.
Anyway, flamesuit on, happy Thanksgiving!:)
Those complaining are us in Aussie and Zealand where the average price for a console game is $70 to $90 USD.On Amazon right now
