Yeah and picking on Sega wasn't smart, people still have a lot of love for that company. It seems a rival hacker group who are big Sega fans are now looking to take them on. How exactly does a hacker war happen?

Star Trek LARP-off?

I assume if they ever actually meet it would be Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock at dawn.
Ha, how would anyone know if Sega was hacked? I mean the hacks have been running the place for years.

Virama: Yeah I know my wording was shit, hungover and got a lot of filming to do today but my point was it seems that the big gaming companies are being targeted and it makes me wonder why... There's been a lot of inflammatory stuff online lately about DRM and well, I'm just joining the lines from where I see it.

The thing is.... I never hear about hackers fucking up non DRM places like GOG or whatever small companies. It's always the megacorps.
Regardless of their DRM stance, megacorps are just a juicier target. Who cares if some "hacker" takes down some no-name or small change business website? No one really, but take down Ubisoft or Sony or Sega and now you've done something worth talking about!

cogadh: What does DRM have to do with any of this hacking? This latest rash of hacking has no agenda whatsoever behind it, it's just a bunch of idiot script kiddies thinking they are being funny. Besides, if you were a company whose security was compromised, why would that ever make you consider decreasing the amount of security you use? If this did have anything to do with DRM, it would have the exact opposite effect.

Lets not give them ideas now Virama. From what i read, they arnt targeting anyone specificly, just random places their fans name off. Id rather not get a email from GoG about some intrusion. Id like to keep this place "off radar" if you know what i mean. Speaking of which...better go get prepared for Steam's inevitable news its been hacked.

The people who hacked Sega are doomed. Those hackers/Sega fans have blast processing on their side.

Nice, I am a Sega fan myself. Hope they get what's coming to them.

Wonder why they don't target Bobby Kotick and John Riccitiello instead.
I really need to just drop off the internet for God's sake. Their manifesto thing is a sad showing of their narcissism and lack of humanity, but at the same time they're right about us blindly pumping our lives and credit info into an internet that is not actually that secure.
i wonder if the hackers got any info on upcoming shining force series games....ITS BEEN A LONG TIME SEGA FFFFFF
I wonder if Sonic 4 Episode II will be coming out ever....ITS BEEN A LONG TIME SEGA FFFFFF

Obviously Keith Apicary hired them to find out more about the Dreamcast 2.

My belief is that it exposes the vulnerability of the Internet, and invalidates (for the time being) the arguments of fanboys all around the world who think the Internet is safe as long as your password doesn't land in the hands of the perps. It's highly unlikely such a message will be sent across to the producers, but it may for their customers.
