deshadow52: I don't, the only change I have seen in the community since the "drastic change" is the old timers bitching and predicting "the end of days for GOG" but that is just me.

Oddsor: I'm thinking ahead a bit on this particular issue. The more popular Gog gets, while offering more "current" games, the more we risk the community of veteran gamers being drowned by a type of newcomers that we don't necessarily want over here.

Though that's just a risk, and I myself think the advantages of Gog becoming a stronger force that can push DRM-free onto newer and newer games far outweighs the negative.

And yeah, I can agree that you see a bit of that "oh no, change!" attitude around at the moment :p
I see that to a point but, like you said a lot of people who are not signed up here are already dedicated to other place selling new games and unless they are extremely anti drm they won't come here and if they are extremely anti drm then they will fit in quite easily. I don't see us getting many unwanted people.

TheEnigmaticT: Personal attacks aren't necessary, dude.
It was an attack.. call it advice.

TheEnigmaticT: There are hundreds more coming soon (for certain definitions of soon).
Yeah, you must have quite the backlog of classics available to you by now. Leaves me wondering which aren't here simply because you haven't got around to it yet and which aren't here due to various legal reasons barring their sale.

Tormentfan: call it advice.
There was no advice. but then it's not the first time you've trolled it up in these forums, is it?

Then work on phrasing your advice more civilly. Flies, honey, vinegar, and all that.

The problem with that attitude is that, as pointed out earlier we asked for it. They gave us a generous survey with plenty of incentive to give them our feedback - and guess what? We're seeing the results of that. Even before the survey there was a sizeable group of people here that expressed a lot of interest in newer games and indie games offered under the same terms as their classic releases. And now, all of a sudden, those same people who took the time and effort to answer the questionnaire have been breaking out the pitchforks and torches over changes they agreed with months ago...it really makes me wonder what planet these people really come from.

Well, at least you admitted to it.

Hey now, I usually do this myself, but we shouldn't generalize like that. I took the survey and wanted newer games, and I obviously don't complain now that they came through. I'm sure the people complaining actually didn't give them the same feedback in that survey :p
I dont get some people.
Why are some people against a bit newer games?
Do you forget the new games will eventually get old and some of the new games will actually some time turn into classics.
It has happened before, and it will happen again.

Here's one more who said in the survey that I'm fine with newer releases too as long as they are DRM-free, and now I am defending the newer GOG releases. No turncoat here! :)

Okay, so I admit I'm in the wrong for using such broad brushstrokes. However, the complainers had ample opportunity to make their opinions heard during the survey, and CDP had been telegraphing their moves towards newer games for a while since then. It's not like this was a surprise about-face on their part.

I've come across people on these forums that insist that new games will be better five years from now. Yeah...

Reminds me of one of my threads that I made a year after joining GOG

Yeah, but usually that becomes obvious after a while. With one guy in particular he really did think just that.

You're right. Best not to dwell on it.
