Yeah, it's definitely a good game to go in knowing nothing about. I love the disclaimer at the start strongly encouraging complete darkness, headphones, and loud volume. :)

Unfortunately, I can understand having no time to go back and play older games. My backlog is... daunting, to say the least. They are excellent games, to say the least. Worth playing if you ever find the time.

Lower the brightness to 0.7, play on hard difficulty, and don't use the glowing stick that you get at the beginning. Its a whole different experience this way.

Thanks for the tips. My screen brightness/contrast are quite low though, so I usually have to turn them up in games.
I always play on hard. ;) Today's hard is yesterday's normal...

My experience in replaying Overture:
First post: "Should have an interesting day today. I didn't sleep last night (couldn't sleep), so, no sleep + Penumbra should be an interesting mix."
Second post: "Done with Overture. I played it all day long, and experienced one really, really shocking moment (I was scared all the way through, but this stands on top of all). After getting out of Shaft 13 (or was it 12, I'm not sure), I knew there was a dog around, but didn't see it. Just as I was turning, it ran in my face and hit / killed me. I jumped off the chair, and shivers crawled all over my body. I quit the game after this, laid down for a hour or two, and continued the game after I woke up. One of the most realistic feelings I've ever experienced."

They say they'll be releasing one, but they probably won't do it before the game is released.
I already pre ordered it, i just wanted something to tide me over 'till the 8th ;)

I was even eyeing Darkness Within 2 as a potential substitute in the meantime.

It's a good game, an absolute must if you're into Lovecraft.
If you haven't played the first one you won't pick up on some stuff that carries over, but that won't detract from the experience.
And it's definitely a nice choice to get in the mood for Amnesia.

Hmm... I've tried the demo already and despite it being cut down to nothing (even the area you're in is missing 90% of its content) it seemed like a good game.
I might wait for a sale or something on it at the moment. I have enough other titles to tide me over. Including an incoming copy of Realms of the Haunting.
