Talk about ruining the fear of not knowing what the monsters are like. Half the fear I find is not knowing just what it is that is after you, so that your imagination fills in the blanks. I played through most of the game not knowing what the creatures looked like because I was always facing the other way running screaming or cowering in a corner whimpering...

How can it be so bad? Have developers commented on it?

for the record, i didn't find Dead Space scary.

i was refuring to how they don't make games that scary anymore and that was the most recent scary game.

Penumbra: Requiem was released in 2008. But really, there was never an abundance of truly scary games.
