Nice! And you are right on the better Cannon Fodder versions. Was SWOS a little sharper on the Amiga also?

So i'd look at:

Space Crusade
Speedball II
Hunter
Midwinter 1+2
Those Magnetic Scrolls text adventures with graphics (The Pawn etc)
Carrier Command
Defender of the Crown
Dune 2
Dreamweb
Gunship 2000

For starters.
I have both Amiga Forever & C64 Forever.

I also still have an Amiga 500 but it's easier for me to use the emulators.

Most Amiga games are available for free if you have the legally purchased Roms so I don't see the point of having them here on GoG, although I suppose it would be nice to save me searching sometimes :)

PirateNeilsouth: Moonstone: A Hard Days Knight - PC playable Amiga Remastered
For a second I thought it was actually remastered... but no
The software is based on the original rom file and remastered through an emulator in a single exe file.
Moonstone actually had a DOS version.

Also the games run via tcUAE. I wonder if Kickstarter roms are involved.

Very interesting, I didn't know about its existence. Thanks!

So instead of oh great list, nice bunch of games there, it's being overly fussy over what is remastered and what isn't? :p

Remastering is the process of making a new master for an album, movie, or any other creation. It tends to refer to the process of porting a recording from an analogue medium to a digital one. Same thing with this they've been remastered through a high quality filter, most likely the emulator.

Ever watched the new remastered Star Trek Generation? That's the original still but it's much sharper with higher detail. Though I think they added some new stars :)

A link to LemonAmiga would provide an even bigger list.
These are not remakes or remasters. It's just roms of games running through an emulator (most likely based on open-source WinUAE) with an upscaling filter. How much of these ports' content is licensed? Is using them any different from just grabbing a torrent of AF or Kickstarter ROMs?

ThorChild: As has been mentioned, this is really a good idea for that range of games from the early to mid 90's, when the Amiga was often the graphically superior machine, or just had better versions of games that also came out on PC at that time.
Why not earlier? The first Amiga games came out in around 1986, and already back then many of them were quite nice (looking). And the earlier you go, the better they were than their possible PC counterparts (which had mere CGA or EGA graphics with no sound card support).
There are lots of examples of Amiga games being superior than their PC counterparts, but I would count these out:

ThorChild: Defender of the Crown
Dune 2
Dreamweb
DoTC: The original DOS version was indeed horrid, but this got a PC remake in 2002, which is pretty loyal to the Amiga original, but better:

Dune 2... I don't see the point with the Amiga version, which was a port of the PC version. IMHO the original PC version is superior, even the graphics.

DreamWeb: The PC version is quite good (especially the CD version), and the PC version is nowadays freeware:

Ruff 'n ' Tumble is seriously missing here. It is one of the prettiest games on Amiga, and one of the better sidescrolling 2D action games on any platform.

Looks like Duke Nukem before he hit puberty. O_O
I've heard the title quite often but haven't ever seen or played the game. Looks neat.

grviper: There's also the DRM issue. Amiga Forever uses special WinUAE and Kickstarter dumps which require a license key to work.
Uh, I would really not call that DRM. The way it is, the distributed "ROM" image is xorred (or some other operation, I don't entirely recall) with the full text of the license (the key). It's more like an encrypted file, with the key to it distributed right next to it. If that's DRM, then what are obfuscated game files with no keys in sight?

It's also not entirely original, but modified not to boot on the real hardware. Apparently a third party they licensed it from insisted on that.
