HijacK: Nice! Even more reasons for them to bring those classics on gog. I'm sure the fanbase for the Amiga is pretty big around here.

timppu: That said, I agree also that bringing Amiga games to GOG might be somewhat tricky, for various reasons mentioned earlier in this discussion.
I don't know much about those issues , but I hope they can work them out. I heard many great things about the Amiga versions of loads of games.

amok: I'm not sure, they have been pretty stingy with the roms so far. And they have been kept solvent, so somebody else then me have to have bought it also. Giving away the roms here for a few cents puts a serious dent in their existing business model.
Depends on whether there actually is a sustainable business model. Cloanto's main focus is not the licensing of AmigaOS. They used to do image processing software primarily, now their main business is e-commerce front-end solutions. The Amiga thing is just a sideshow for them, and I very much doubt that they could remain solvent on that basis alone.

If this makes some sort of a deal and license issues can be sorted out, it would be great to get some Amiga games on GOG. I personally would love to have a legal outlet to obtain the Turrican games that doesn't involve spending a boatload of money obtaining an Amiga computer and a copy of Turrican itself.
I am against that idea. I think that if the whole amiga library starts arrivig on gog, I'll be in huge financial trouble.

probably, but I still do not think it will happen.

Plus it would probably generate more Amiga fans. I think there's a fair amount of people who have become DOS era fans thanks to digital re-releases, providing Amiga versions that work out of the box should have a similar effect.

One of the big problems I see is that more publishers of Amiga games are defunct now than ones of PC games and also some publishers who released games for both Amiga and DOS still aren't present on GOG (AFAIK we still have not a single Psygnosis game on GOG and they had a released a lot of great Amiga games).

timppu: Why no console games then? I think DotEmu sells them too. To me Amiga (gaming) was always something between PC and console gaming anyway.
Well, for one: it's console games. GOG is specializing in vintage computer games so I think they should focus on that. Also it's much easier to illegaly set up console games than Amiga games via emulation - Amiga games working out of the box are simply worth more. Additionally console game publishers are already re-releasing many of their old games in one way or another (i.e. through Virtual Console and stuff) and SEGA has even already digitally released some of their older games for PC. I don't oppose the idea of re-releasing console games on GOG but Amiga games are simply worth more, IMHO, and fit better into GOG's profile.

They had some truly great games... And they also had PC games. The problem, I think, is that Psygnosis is today called SCE Studio Liverpool. Sony owns the lot.

Edit: For the greater good - http://www.psygnosis.org/games/
and - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCE_Studio_Liverpool#Games_developed_or_published_as_Psygnosis

Random though - I want to play Agony now... I miss my Amiga.

Due to all the Kickstarter situation it might be difficult for GoG to do this. But I would love to get some Amiga exclusive titles here. For example: Apidya

Voted because I want to see Amiga games on GOG :D
It's hard to purchase an Amiga nowadays. Especially one in good condition. The games are pretty hard too.
I'd buy many Amiga games, GOG.

te_lanus: They asked them :D. Places like Back to the Roots has a huge library of games that you could download legally for free, since they got a "license" to distribute the Amiga games. Also some of the Amiga game publishers allow you to download their games of their website legally.

keeveek: Oh, that sounds cool. But if they are free and the emulator is free... there are no many reasons for having it on GOG.com
Why would they use their precious time on something that is legally avaible elsewhere for free?
Even if these game were availible for free, it would still be beneficial for gog.com as it would be a good way to promote their site and find some more consumers.
Guys, check out this:

And this was in 1993 mind you. It was amazing how advanced the last Amiga models were.

Barry_Woodward: ...
Well done Barry! I must admit I'm skeptical as I'm guessing the DOSBox team expected far less money than Amiga would expect, but thank you very much for taking the initiative.
As has been mentioned, this is really a good idea for that range of games from the early to mid 90's, when the Amiga was often the graphically superior machine, or just had better versions of games that also came out on PC at that time.

Space crusade is one example that springs to mind:

http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/space-crusade

It's a dog of a game on the PC, but the Amiga version i'd sink untold hours into playing hotseat with a mate. This is just one example of where the amiga version of the game was superior to the PC version, but around this era you found this quite often.

Once the 486 came along the pure CPU power of that compared to the Amiga, and the better graphics display of SVGA cards pushed the Amiga to extinction (as a games machine). But for sure there are quite a lot of better Amiga versions of games that also came out on DOS.

If this does become an option for GoG, i'm sure previous Amiga owners like myself can provide a list of titles to look at.
Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we?
Ambermoon
Black Crypt
Brian the Lion
Cadaver
gods
North&South
P.P.Hammer And His Pneumatic Weapon
Prehistorik
Pushover
Shadow of the Beast
Titus the Fox

... plus the superior versions of Cannon Fodder and Superfrog (compared to the DOS ones), Desert/Jungle Strike, Vroom...

It's incredible how little some of those have aged. And the music... the majority of Amiga games I had the pleasure of wasting many precious hours on featured truly memorable soundtracks.
