The best animator in the world, Masaaki Yuasa (Noiseman Sound Insect, Cat Soup, Mind Game, Kemonozume, Kaiba and The Tatami Galaxy) is making a Kickstarter for a short animation film. I'm just sooo excited that I wanted to share this with you, because, he is by far my favorite animator!

Edit: And it's DRM free!

You're welcome, and you should watch Mind Game (http://myanimelist.net/anime/875/Mind_Game), the movie, if you want to have a good overview of Masaaki Yuasa.

I was sceptical at first, but the studio involved is Production I.G., one of the best out there in anime, and one of the guys on the production team is Mamoru Oshii. Wow.

My only complaint is that they should have set their sights a little higher. 10 minutes? I'm in KS fatigue right now, but I'd seriously consider contributing if it were a feature-length production.

Yes, I though it was a bit short too, but 10 GOOD minutes is better than 500+ episodes of generic shonen, don't you agree? And I suppose it would take the budget of a Double Fine, Wasteland, Eternity to make a full-featured movie with the same quality... It took 34 million dollars to make Ponyo for example...

Yes, his animes have something very optimistic, human, psychological and surreal all at the same time!
Added to our list.
Love the colors and strange style. I miss fresh Anime like that of the 80s and 90s. I love projects like this. Backed!
Update: They will add another 10 minutes for 400 000$ and a full featured movie for 1 000 000$.

Then, you should check the others animes from Masaaki Yuasa, they are all from the 2000s. There is also Koji Yamamura and Kunio Katō who make animes with an unusual style. And pretty much everything from the Studio 4°C.
At this rate it will take a while for their goal to be reached. I doubt that they will attain 1 000 000 US dollars, although I want them to. Heck, even 400 000 seems quite optimistic.
I backed it as soon as I heard about it. Heck, a Japanense creator releasing something digital, DRM- and region-free? It's almost a miracle.

The project has a catchy plot-life and I saw Kemonozume to know what to expect. They have also Mamoru Oshii as a project consultant. I look forward to see the outcome. I wish it'd be a longer movie however it's a first project coming from this industry, so sending the signal is more important to me for now.
I'm not really big on short films(enjoy them but not enough to pay, I've only streamed some on Crunchyroll) so I won't be kicking anything in here.
Unless this gets a major surge of funding in the last few days, it won't get anywhere near either stretch goal. A shame.
