djdarko: Nope, you're not the only one. I miss classic Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, and Alvin in the Chipmunks.

And tons of other hand-drawn animates cartoons pre-mid-90s. The modern cartoons are soulless crap.
Scooby Doo has not aged well for me same with Alvin which is too Baby-ish to me now.

Looney Tunes has spectacularly aged well.
Oh man! My heart aches whenever I see the stuff that's being shown today compared to the 80's & 90's toons. I really miss the Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Tom & Jerry, The Bots Master, Saber Rider & the Star Sheriffs etc. Now, I just watch anime which kinda pleases me even if some of them do use CGI.

Has anyone tried watching Iron Man Armored Adventures as it's basically 3D CGI..I did my best to watch it but just couldn't. Seriously, the only thing that came to my mind was where's the barf bag but fortunately I found the best antidote and that was watching the 1990's X-men animated series.

Anime's use of CGI is intersting in that they try to make it look like 2D Animation. The Zone of the Enders intro is an example:

Also I take it that your not into the very popular shows right now like My Littpe Pony Friendship is Magic, Adventure Time, and Gravity Falls?

Dude! I've heard that's a great film, with a cool soundtrack.

Also, I love CGI more than 2D, mainly because of things like Oddworld, which can only be done in cg, but i also am a fan of 2D, like Osmosis Jones or Iron Giant, the original clone wars miniseries, and many more.

I haven't watched these shows so can't say anything about it. Didn't ZOE2 have hand drawn animation sequences cause I remember the awesome intro and that music.
I do miss the more traditional animation i must say. Yeah usually Studio Ghibli is a large example, along with the original Batman series, Batman beyond, Gargoyles, Slayers... I got such a library of Anime...

The newest MLP isn't really hand drawn, from what i can tell it's animated heavily from a flash-like animation software and they do a good job for transitioning and basic movements. It would give it a cleaner and more consistent feel without feeling CGI or too 3D, as well as smoother.

It's an awesome film yes and highly recommended! It's got a little bit of cgi in it iirc

I gotta watch gargoyles sometime. Also, Batman Beyond is great.
I don't miss vintage style animation at all. It was an extremely laborious technique that was still extremely limited in terms of the emotions that it could convey. It's not surprising that its most successful implementation was in areas where the finer points of acting weren't needed - horribly exaggerated violence, kid's stuff, and porn.

Just a few days ago I watched "Mulan" together with The Woman Of My Dreams (who happens to be a huge Disney fan :) ). I couldn't help noticing how clumsy it looked. There was an entire team working hard to produce that movie, and yet things like facial expressions, the physics of fluids, or crowd scenes, were so primitive ...

Watching vintage animation today is a bit like watching a Jack Arnold movie. One can see how it might have impressed people decades ago, and one can still feel respect for the amount of work and dedication that went into the product, but at the same time it looks so crude that it's very obviously a thing of the past.
Rotoscoping also creates some interesting animations, which to me usually comes of as somewhat uncanny but cool nevertheless:
Heavy Metal (nsfw trailer) used a bit of it, and Fire and Ice pretty much exclusively used it - and it looked incredible!

Funny, I think the same thing everytime I watch a CGI movie. Everything seems so primitive and lifeless compared to beautiful hand-drawn 2D animation.

How is it primative?

My feelings on CGI are this:

I am starting to not like Cartoony looking CGI while still trying to have realistic features like Pixars work. Realistic individual hairs, skin texture, clothing texture, just why its just feels weird. Whats the appeal?

Conversly I like more realistic looking CGI like Blizzards trailers:

I also happen to like realistc graphics for video games and live action movies. Or in this case movies like Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol.
