Cost being part of the product makes sense. If I were to review Kane & Lynch 2 on release day at $60 I would say NO, but as a $20 product I would say YES.

The problem is prices are malleable and user reviews last forever.

As I personally consider reviews a very subjective issue, I usually try to stick to reviewers I "know" and that share my preferences with games. And if they whine about the price, than I know that it matters. For that reason I just created that wish.

I hate when reviews are used to bitch about something that isn't about the game itself.
This thread made me realize I need to rate more of these kinds of reviews as "not useful" so they don't get top billing (assuming those ratings determine if the review makes the front page).

This, essentially. Writing a review entirely consisting of "This is overpriced" is silly, but cost is an issue that should be mentioned in review.

Yes they are stupid and not giving proper reviews is abuse of the system. But there are just so many of them out there...

That is not true. 20 bucks for RC3 is pritty good. If it was in a pack with the other RC games, I would see it as RC3 for 20 bucks, with the others as free games.

Everyone sees things differnlty, witch is why what your saying is and always will be wrong. I do agree that there should be a forum for it tho, if only to keep it off the reviews secitons.

I don't care about someone say the game is a bad game, what I am conserned about is peiople useing it as a way to bash GoG for having $20 games. So what if they have them? You really thought GoG could get every game for 5-10 bucks? It was bound to happen. It was never a quesiton of if they would do it, it was a queiton of when. Your kidding your self if you think any other way.

That is true. The main problom is that most of them have been up voted, so all you see is the reviews that say its not worth 20 bucks.

The standed GoG listing is most 'helpful' first. If you have a look at the RC3 page, the only onse you see are people basing on the price, rather than actully giving the game it self a review.

Again, that's contradictory. If all opinions are wrong, then there's *no way* to tell which opinion is 'less wrong', since the conclusion itself would be a matter of opinion ☺.

And whether opinions are facts or not really only matters in courtrooms and similar locations.

In the real world, activities like buying games are affected by a number of factors apart from 'facts'.

While I wouldn't base a review score on the price, part of the reason for reviews is to advise potential buyers

This includes telling them what type of game it is (more specific than the broad categories GOG gives) and whether or not you think it's worth the price.

If I was reviewing one of those old Adventure games from the 80s for example, I'd certainly state that the game (at 6$, a price for which you could get comparable more modern titles) is overpriced when it's not at least 50% off.

Similarly, I'd advise the buyer to spend 6$ on Freespace instead of Wing Commander 3 and buy Wing Commander 3 on special (because if Freespace is worth 6$, then Wing Commander 3 isn't).

And finally, I'd advise someone against paying the full 10$ for Another World simply because the game is so short (in addition to being retro). 6$ sounds like a better fit for it.

I don't think those considerations are out of place in a review that will be read by a lot of people trying to decide whether or not to purchase the game (when it is at full price and during promos).

In short, my goal when writing a review isn't only to rate the game, it's also to be informative to potential buyers (some considerations in the review such as pricing shouldn't affect the review score I give... it's just some considerations that potential buyers will want to know).

Sigh..... I am sorry, but here in Aus, GoG is a good thing. In the US, you only have to pay about 60 bucks for a game. Here, for a new game, 60 US is a BARGEN, mean while where paying up to 110 for new games. So I think I have a better idea of what cheep and expensive is compared to you yanks.
