Or better late than too early...
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2009/10/sega-delays-alpha-protocol-to-2010/
I knew something was amiss since it was 6 days after the expected release date and there was no gold announcement but I wasn't expecting quite this much delay. Not only delayed till 2010 but delated until the MIDDLE of 2010!
Oh well, there's no competition for my money next week then, OFP2 here I come...
What is it with publishers cramming 2010 with forty million new releases? I know we're still in a recession, but surely they don't think we're all going to be able to afford a twofold increase in our games libraries next year?
I heard it's more likely to come out around June 2010 (not Q1 like the other 200 hundred delayed games) which I really wouldnt mind given the general paucity of games coming out then and to be honest I thought the game needed a little bit more work so it's a win win. It helps that there are more than a dozen of good titles coming out between now and march.
This game looks awesome and I am pretty sure there is no way on earth I can run it, but still, it looks awesome.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I preordered it!
You should never preorder stuff until you see a 'gone gold' announcement
Its not like you won't get it, it'll just be a bit later than planned.
Quite a bit later
Well lets be realistic, a fuck of a lot later...

Next year is lining up to be a 12 month typical Christmas season. Some of the planned game releases for next year are going to have to be pushed to 2011.

Hah! The release date for that got pushed back 4 months. At least as far as Steam and Japan go. Looks like Valve don't want my money -- again. Maybe they did it because they can't push Alpha Protocol back for us =S

COD4MW2
That game has a *lot* of publishers scared stiff. Blame the sheep. Mainly the console ones.

Really? It's out for us on Steam in 22 hours.
Yes really. And it fucking pisses me off. First Red Faction, now this. Guess I'll have to find someone to gift it as there's no fucking way in hell I'm waiting until next year to buy it myself. Especially as I know this game has a local retail release on the 23rd of this month (although I have no intention of paying $65 of a retail version).

Not trying to advertise, but ARMA 2 is like OFP 2, and in my opinion, it's way better.

Oh, 20 hours then. I didn't check the latest countdown figures.

I reckon MW2 causing delays is basically bollocks. Sure its going to sell like crazy and nothing in that first week or 2 will compete but the thrill will wear off after a fortnight at best (or after about 6 hours if its a true sequel to COD4) and fickle people will want something new. Also there's the simple fact that some of us detest the COD games with a passion and there's plenty of people who don't like FPS' at all or at least want variety. There's a shitload of scope for non FPS titles in the same week and for all other titles in the same month.

Well say a big 'fuck you' to steam and order it somewhere else. Hell if you want, you can put some cash in my bank, I'll buy a copy here and air mail it to you

When did you get OFP2?

So it's a 4 months delay for Japan, and a 72 US$ price tag for Europe.
Man, you gotta love this globalization 'thingy' they got going on...
