Crassmaster: Next year is lining up to be a 12 month typical Christmas season. Some of the planned game releases for next year are going to have to be pushed to 2011.

I can see something of a release date domino effect beginning here.
so we'll never get any games??

anjohl: COD4MW2
That game has a *lot* of publishers scared stiff. Blame the sheep. Mainly the console ones.

I don't think that publishers are scared of one game. Even if that one was a universal dead cert (which it isn't),gamers would surely ask for more than one game for Christmas.
If anything it's other FPS games that would have been delayed. Yet it's the other FPS games like Dragon Rising and Left 4 Dead 2 that have stayed put while RPGs, racing games et all have been pushed back.

We'll get the '09 games in '10. The '10 games in '11... I don't see publishers cramming a recession hit year full of releases. So the move back to 2010 is merely all they want to tell us at this point in time.

Considering Obsidian's already widespread reputation for being pathologically unable to actually finish any of the games they supposedly develop, this latest "we said October but we didn't say which year" announcement regarding Alpha Protocol will surely create even more anti-Avellone fanboys out there...

Aliasalpha: I reckon MW2 causing delays is basically bollocks. Sure its going to sell like crazy and nothing in that first week or 2 will compete but the thrill will wear off after a fortnight at best (or after about 6 hours if its a true sequel to COD4) and fickle people will want something new. Also there's the simple fact that some of us detest the COD games with a passion and there's plenty of people who don't like FPS' at all or at least want variety. There's a shitload of scope for non FPS titles in the same week and for all other titles in the same month.

Not to sound rude, but you *do* realize that COD4 is the SECOND most played pc game in the world right? The only game that beats it is WOW.

That can't be right. I thought it was Counter Strike or something.
Well I can definitely see where the stats for WOW come from, there's only one way to play it, how do you get stats for games that don't rely on a single server?

You take their word for it. I mean, why would publishers EVER want to lie to you?
Better Late and polished, come pubs take your time. Us hardcore gamers have tooooooooooooooooooo much on our plate already.
So yeah bravo for delays.
I pre ordered Duke Nukem Forever... the sales slip from 1999 faded to white... But i still have it next to my signed Megadeth ticket and drumsticks/guitar picks
