Aliasalpha: You should never preorder stuff until you see a 'gone gold' announcement
Its not like you won't get it, it'll just be a bit later than planned.
Quite a bit later
Well lets be realistic, a fuck of a lot later...

I'm reminded at this pont of the guy who posted a photo of the receipt for his preorder of Duke Nukem Forever :-D

Namur: So it's a 4 months delay for Japan, and a 72 US$ price tag for Europe.
Man, you gotta love this globalization 'thingy' they got going on...

I'm surprised the EU hasn't delivered sanctions to Valve... oh wait, they can't.

us$80 is the average retail price for Australia. Its literally half that for the steam version

No, not yet. MUAHAHAHAHA*cough*HAHA.
This really ins't a gripe with just Valve. It's the same shit pretty much everywhere, gog being the exception, naturally.

Namur: It's 40 US$ for you guys ?

39.99 according to the coming soon page which with the currently decent exchange rate means it'd cost me about au$45
Shame I don't have a high end game capable PC because I'll have to pay at least double that for a copy on the 360
More like $50 AUD

unfuckingbelievable...
How are these people coming up with these ridiculous prices ?
A guy earning minimum wages here would have to fork over 11% of his monthly income to buy a game at this price...
Can't you upgrade the PC one bit at a time ? Is it a lappy ?
Anyway, i have the PC, but i refuse to pay 73 'dolla' for a game. No way.

That's the average price in Aussie yes.
Well say a big 'fuck you' to steam and order it somewhere else. Hell if you want, you can put some cash in my bank, I'll buy a copy here and air mail it to you
Wish I could, but there's no other viable way to get it. It's not on GamersGate (in fact, I don't think they have any Codemasters games) and the importing/retail cost is far more than I'm prepared to pay for a game.
And lets face it, there's no point in then not buying it to "teach Valve a lesson" as the only loser then would be myself. Valve won't give a shit if they do or don't get a single sale after all.

Sadly it is a lappy. My game PC which was already obsolescent at the time went belly up last year and it would have been just as cost effective to replace it as it would be to repair it. Sadly I had the money for neither so I'm stuck trying to play games on a Geforce Go 7600 and a 1.6GHz core2Duo...

Sorry but I HAD to say it... Obsolete.

That's rough. And costly in this case, seeing how you'll end paying double for the Xbox version if you really feel like grabbing it.
Let's just hope the game is good enough to justify the price tag.

Yes, but if you consider the grammar and context.... Obsolete is the correct word.

Err no, it wasn't. At the time of its death, my gaming PC was capable of playing the most modern of games if the majority of the details were turned off/minimum. Not incapable of performing the task but certainly not going to be able to keep it up for long. Pretty much the definition of obsolescent
