I absolutely loved the game. The game hated me.

When the game wouldn't horrifically lock up my PC, I adored the game more then any RPG I've played in probably the last three years.

For two dollars, anyone on the fence, BUY IT.
Nah... Already got X Superbox on Steam cheap a while ago. Now I'm waiting for it to go on sale at GG with no launcher crap in every single game. Tired of paying twice, so AP will wait.

bazilisek: I don't know if I'm just extremely lucky or what, but I have encountered a grand total of one bug in Alpha Protocol. So I don't really know what's supposed to be so terrible about it.

StingingVelvet: Same. I think most people are just regurgitating snarky comments based on Obsidian's reputation.
The only problem I had with the game was the fucking Moscow boss fight. But it wouldn't suprise me to hear people are having issues with an Obsidian game.

StingingVelvet: The next Fallout will surely be by Bethesda, but hopefully Obsidian gets the one after that if they're still around.

I liked Fallout 3 despite its flaws and kindergarten level writing, so whatever.
I see Fallout 3 kinda like McDonalds.

What's there isn't very good, but it makes up for it in sheer quantity. Kind of.

Hahahaha... not sure about that analogy but it made me smile. Bethesda do VERY good exploration, and for me that's enough to buy and enjoy their games. I just wish they could get some new writers and system designers that could enrich the experience further.

Well, their exploration is good simply by virtue of the massive size of their worlds (Keep in mind, however, that I haven't played many Bethesda just Fallout 3 and Daggerfall titles--just Fallout 3 and Daggerfall--so I might not have any idea what I'm talking about. And I'm certainly a huge supporter of F3's atmosphere. I thought the DC Wasteland was beautifully rendered.

I mean, F3 has its charms... for me, it's just kinda ruined by its lack of real depth, despite the huge number of mechanics that should have lended it substance (the weapon repairing alone could have added an awesome survival mechanic, where you find yourself stranded out in the middle of nowhere with a nearly broken firearm, and are forced to scavange parts and/or new weapons. But no... the fast travel system ruined that. Same with drinking radioactive water.).

I wouldn't say that. The way they design the worlds, give every town a little unique aspect, pick the right music, scatter the right items, make the characters memorable... they are very good at designing exploration and discovery, that doesn't come automatic when you make a large world. For example while I love New Vegas for being a real RPG, the world exploration aspect is arguably much weaker than Fallout 3's.

If Bethesda could combine their world building expertise with better writing and better core design they would be making the best games ever. I hear they added a lot of staff for Skyrim and some of the previews sound very promising in these areas, so I am optimistic.

I have it on PS3 and must say it's damn good.
with the massive sale.... you think I am too optimistic believing that it will create a market for DLC to be released now? Surely it would make money!

The developers said it didn't sell enough to warrant a sequel, so DLC seems impossible at the moment. :(

I'd much rather they go "Hey, people are playing it now!" and put out patches.

Even ignoring my apparently uber-rare complete system lock up, the game had small issues that could be patched out.

Sega cut all support for it so no, no chance of any DLC or future patches even though Obsidian had plans for DLC. Best you can hope is some other publisher picks up the baton and lets Obsidian develop a full sequel.

This is why I want the publisher model to die.

Did anyone hear Extra Creditz will be publishing indie titles in the near future? I'm kind of interested to see what kind of game they'd pick.

I feel sad there is a huge lack of espionage games out now. I heard SOE canned The Agency, which looked badass. And Splinter Cell sucks ass now that it's about a very old man who shoots people in black and white.
