Gametrailers tv has a feature on Alpha Protocol thats definitely worth watching for people interested in it. I'm still not entirely sure what to make of it being so action heavy but I'm hoping it'll be good. Obsidian have a history of great ideas with dodgy execution though so I'm not sure if it'll be a day 1 purchase for me.

Not really sure why it's called an action RPG, to me it sounds like a third-person action shooter game. But definitely going to pick this game up. Hey, it's a Chris Avellone game.

I like Obsidian's RPGs and this game will be great too. So bad Alien RPG has cancelled. :(

I'm hoping this year will be good for RPGs, but I get the feeling I'm going to be disappointed by some of them.
My biggest hopes are with Diablo 3 and Age of Decadence, but I expect I'll check this out as well as Dragon Age.
Age of Decadence is the only one catering to the Fallout/Baldur's Gate type of demographic though. (despite what Bioware have said about Dragon Age, it's not going to be Baldur's Gate 3, so they should keep quiet on that score to avoid comparison.)
edit: Just watched the trailer, it seems very big on action, twitch-shooter style, and mini-games. Gah. I may pass on this, or at least wait until it's price point is much lower.

I didn't know Age of Decadence and I really like what I've seen in the screenshots and videos. Also, I hope Dragon Age to be great.

To be honest, it looks very meh from the preview.
BUT! There has not been game similar to Deus Ex except..Bloodlines, ever. + Chris Avellone aka GOD is working on it, + Brian Mitsoda aka JESUS is working on it as well.
So I remain hopefuly about the gameplay itself.As long as it gives us plenty of options how to deal with situations and some 24esque hard moral decisions, I am all over it.

I'm looking forward to it. I've liked what Obsidian has put out so far, so I'll probably purchase the game.
As for the Run and Gun aspects... Mass Effect was a real RPG and was defiantly more actiony then most. I guess I don't thing all RPGs have to be totally turned based to be a "Role Playing Game." I love turn based stuff but having a more action feel doesn't turn me off... but we'll see how this turns out.
Nice to have an RPG that isn't fantasy or sci fi.

I hope the RPG aspects are not for show in this game. I am worried that it will be as linear as a rail shooter....

Keep an eye on White Gold: War in Paradise and The Precursors. White Gold was released in Russia last year, and The Precursors is due next quarter. Both share FPS-RPG mechanics which are very reminiscent of Deus Ex, although the world is free roam, inventory shuffling has been replaced by a weight-based system, and there are dozens of side quests as well as alternate paths or solutions for many of the main storyline missions.
As you can imagine, I'm very excited about both games.

Well, the trailer didn't make me interested, but then trailers are usually pretty bad. They make everything look like an action movie. I hope there is a bit more information about what the game is like without a lot of spoilers. Or maybe I'll buy it sight unseeen one day and play it without any expectations like I did Deus Ex. Assuming the DRM is acceptable.
