GOG is at QuakeCon, currently; I'm hoping they're able to make some headway with ZeniMax, or at least parts of ZeniMax (iD, etc.), so we'll see releases of those classics.

EDIT: Oh, wait, I thought you were irritated at me because I've expressed similar opinions in the past. If not, my apologies. If so, be assured that I don't think GOG shouldn't have Steam games, or vice versa. (Heck, I want to see Zenimax's Steam titles here.) I just did not find Amnesia release that exciting because I've heard so much about it in the past, and already have it DRM-free. That's just me; the release was very well-accepted by others, and Amnesia was - it turns out - was high up on the wishlist.
That being said, it is nice when GOG is willing to take the time to bring games not easily obtained elsewhere; to me, it shows that they aren't just in it for easy-to-get money. (Imagine if they hadn't gone after the Hasbro titles like Planescape Torment or Baldur's Gate, nor worked to get EA here with Alpha Centauri or Theme Hospital, just because these titles weren't already on Steam or took hard work to bring here.)

haha. talk about projecting and reading things into it. I guess we read OP different.
I took him on his word. Did not occur to you that the OP might mean exactly what he was saying, and that it was not intended to be sarcastic or snarky (not everyone are, you know), but actually finding the new releases good?
I also wish gog had an upcoming list, I have said so many times.

Because Penumbra was such a shock after Amnesia.

So to OP: if you were not being sarcastic (unlike some others in this and the Amnesia/Penumbra release threads), my apologies. Good thing that you found the releases genuinely surprising and interesting, and were not sarcastically moaning about "GOG releasing games that have been available elsewhere already".

If a game (old or new) is not sold anywhere else (yet), I can see mainly two possible reasons:
1. The other stores have simply not realized yet that people would like to buy that game en masse.
2. The other stores realize it doesn't make much business sense to try to pursue the rights to sell those games (unless, maybe, someone else have done all the hard and expensive groundwork, and offers the games on a silver platter to them).
I'm more inclined to believe that nowadays it is more often about 2 than 1. Other digital stores besides GOG do realize nowadays that many old games can yield good profits, e.g. Interplay RPGs, Square/Eidos games, X-Com series, early X-Frontier games, old LucasArts games etc. etc. etc. Besides those, there certainly are lots of old "classics" yet to pursue, like lots of old Apogee and Epic Megagames shareware games, but I think many people here over-estimate how much profit pursuing the rights for every obscure old game would really yield (if they are old classics that other stores, nor the IP rights holders, don't seem to show interest in selling).
