Wraith: I found the pistol lying on the ground in the second level. Is there any real point to using it?

If you want to die like Lt Gorman then yes. Otherwise no.
EDIT: Never mind, mentioned earlier.

Really hope they'll make it availible on GOG.
I don't care if it'll be a dollar more expensive, I'll still buy it.
Also hoping for AVP2, since I loved it soooo much back in the day.
ARGH! Got to the end of the Tyrargo mission, beat it, then the game crashed. Loaded, beat the mission again, game crashed.
Now I can't be Newt in the final level :(

Navagon: I'd definitely get it on GOG. And it should be coming here by any reasonable logic. Steam, however, doesn't have such a good reputation when it comes to classic games, *coughLucasartscough*

Unlike Dark Forces 2, AVP Gold still has source code. Heck, it even leaked onto the interwebs. Rebellion can fix this game if they want to.
I have Vista 64 home premium and it works on my machine.
There is no multiplayer in this version of Alien VS Predator though. :(
Still, it's worth a 5 spot for the single player campaigns.

See Wraith's reply above yours. I'll wait.

They will be adding in the multiplayer as a patch later.
Alien Versus Predator Classic 2000 has been updated to run on modern PCs and laptops using DirectX 9.0c and includes support for Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, however, it does not currently support multi-player.

You guys know what this means, Steam has felt GOGs pressure, they're going to war, and it will be a glorious price war.

Awesome. :D
10 years has been passed but it has the same horror. I just played the game as marine and felt the same feeling.

Understood. While you wait, maybe you can pass the time playing the unauthorized updated fan version then? ;)

I'm betting the reason they had to nix multiplayer for the time being was due to the multiplayer component being supported through mplayer for the most part. I think it had some generic host MP, but Mplayer was what they wanted you to use for game browsing and such.

Yeah, the basic consensus is they're trying to get master servers up and working. Nobody like a broken multiplayer game.
GOG version or GTFO
Then again I seem to recall it was pretty shit (or was that AvP2) so it might be a GTFO anyway
