I just saw the commercial for it. Chaka like!

I'm not totally sure what to think of the game. Hopefully it will be good. Just recently you could preorder it from GMG for something like 33 USD after discounts (17 dollars off). I tried to PO it, but my bank declined the transaction. Apparently they thought GMG was a gambling site heh. I'd ordered from them in the past, so I'm not sure why they didn't block my transactions previously. At any rate, I missed the sale because I couldn't get it straightened out with my bank in time =( So I'll probably hold off on buying the game now until after I hear some reviews.

I would need to hold off untill I get a new pc, and now that I think about it, the commercial for Duke Forever looked really cool. I guess we should all be wary.

The trailers make it look like a hand-holding linear arcade FPS with liberal cutscenes every five paces. Of course, it will probably be a lot better than it looks. A hell of a lot better, even. But that doesn't change the fact that the trailers seem almost intent on destroying my initial interest.

Maybe I should be more optimistic given Gearbox's proven aptitude, but each trailer seems to be in competition with the ones that went before it to make the game look worse than the last one did. Now they've thrown in a voiceover that even the game's own creative staff have disowned I really don't feel like I'm being to harsh about this.

Yeah that's kind of where I'm at on the whole thing. Before seeing any trailers, I was under the impression that it was a serious Aliens game but with the co-operative feel of the Borderlands formula. But after looking at some gameplay footage from demos and what not, it definitely seems like a more linear single-player focused game with co-op as more of an afterthought. Not only that, but it just.... doesn't look like it's as much fun or as scary as it should be.

Gearbox has done well lately though with the Borderlands games, so I'm hoping that they pull through with this one and that it's more enjoyable than it seems to be from the early footage.

You're right, that voiceover is so horrible it's actually kind of epic. And yes, the trailer does make the game look rather bad. A lot of the animations look awful, much of the action appears heavily scripted, etc.

There is one thing that catches my interest though: the cargo loader! I wanna drive that sooooo badly! As I'm sure most gamers do if they've seen the movie Aliens.

i look forward to EVERYTHING that has coop. playing bf3 or cod with buddies is fun, but fighting together with your friends against a mob of mindless ai controlled enemies is SO much more fun. so im psyched.

You loved those third person shooters on the PS1? Say what you want about Duke Forever but it was no where near as bad as those games. I love some Duke Nukem (even forever) but those games were awful!

Shit, I should have qualified my answer. I never had a PS1. Sorry about that.

Honestly most of my ripping Duke Forever is bandwagon and that is unfair. I think what happened was that after SO MUCH time went by with delays and talks and then cancellation and then finally it was really coming; and there were people like me who had been waiting and anticipating and building this thing up in their mind so much that regardless of how good the game was, there was no way it was going to reach our rediculous expectations.

I must admit it, I have no idea where any hype came from! Anyone who followed the game from day 1 should of expected a mess. To be honest the game was better then my expectations. Thats how low mines was to begin with. :D
