Where did you get the reviews ? I read somewhere it recieved a goty 2000 on the PC...weird.
But it's really a good game, really recommending, You can look into some gameplay videos if you are uncertain.

I'd never touch the reviews of Gamestop and other review sites(ign) because they are really biased. Look at the Player reviews, they are all really positive about the game.

Eh? Alice was fairly well-received by critics. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a good game, obviously, but the game definitely received a fair bit of positive attention from the press.
Even that Gamespot review isn't particularly harsh, honestly. It's lukewarm, at worst.

Yet further evidence that reviewers are not trustworthy, especially those from Gamespot...
Alice was a great game, got a copy arrive today so I could play it again, still as good as I remember it.

His experience in China kinda convinced him to switch to DRM and take the DLC-policy which is a shame 8/

Nothing yet, guessing that if I haven't had a response by now I'm probably not going to, oh well, though with his stance on DRM I'm guessing it was going to be a no to gog anyway.
While I can understand his stance from his experience in China (though really, if you're gonna try and sell in China you have to expect the piracy, it is pretty much institutionalised there) his example in the post you link to is flawed though, car alarms protect the buyer not the manufacturer who would probably love for you to have your car stolen as it means you have to buy another one (whether with your own money or the insurance), whereas DRM does nothing to protect the buyer and is purely there to protect the developer. :D

If it had gotten mainly poor reviews, it certainly wouldn't be getting a sequel ten years later. This game is quite beloved among pc gamers and several reviewers alike as you mentioned with the 85 metacritic score. The game has some issues, but it was very well done and is still very fun to play now.

You know, that isn't a bad score. Hell, right under the numbers is the word "Good".
