I see there's the first gameplay video up at EA's website. The real tragedy is that this game will be limited to console graphics. More than most this game should be an excuse for insane looking visuals (pun sort of intended).
I really like the first one: eccellent gameplay, eccellent level design and solid engine. But the best parts remain the music!
American McGee's Alice is a widely acknowledged cult favorite among discriminating gamers. It's certainly one of mine. Definitely my favorite FPS after System Shock 2 (My faves Thief I/II and Call of Cthulhu: DCotE deviate from the formula too much to qualify). The right amount of whimsy and weird, art and gameplay.

The concept art and teasers buoy my confidence, so far. And the fact it's actually being developed for PC practically makes me cry in relief (it will have console ports, natch, but many titles in the pipeline don't even bother with the dying PC anymore).

It says it takes place 11 years after the events of the now 11-year-old game (makes sense). I wonder if it will feature Alice as a grown woman, 27, 28. Or if it will keep her in arrested adolescence. I suppose time will tell.

Don't keep your hopes up, it's coming out for 360 and PS3 so there's nothing to say we'll get anything more beautiful on PC than on those. Also, American McGee gave an interview stating that he felt DRM (of the anal rape variety, my terms) was a necessity and a reality these days.

The screenies look good. I think the mobile site had higher res ones, oddly. I am hoping for something awesome on PC so I can justify release day sale, but I've quit holding my breath, I was looking too much like a Smurf all the time.
The original was such a console game though, even if it was a PC exclusive. I don't mean that in a bad way, I loved the game, I'm just saying I don't really worry about "consolization" with this type of game. I'll probably play it with my 360 pad.

... funny you should say that...

The PS3 / 360 versions are including the original game as a downloadable bonus.

There's no word whether or not this means the PC version will get it too.

Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. Afterall, The PC version is a whopping $10 cheaper. $10 seems about right for the original alice. Well good thing the game was on liquidation for $0.96 when I bought it.

Uh, used copies of the game sell for $50 on eBay. Even more if they're complete in box.

I have the original in a box so I don't really care, but it would be a cool give-away on any platform. The game works fine on modern systems too, so there would be no real need to mess with it.

I like all the console kids asking if it will be in "HD." Alice ran in higher resolutions than the Xbox 360 ever has when it came out a decade ago.
Nope, not going to work.

Expecting American McGee to do a good Alice 2 would be like expecting M. Night Shyamalan to do a good 6th sense 2. They're both 1-hit wonders.

It doesn't matter what it sells for used. $10 seems about right should the game get re-released via DD like on GOG should EA come on board. Blood is over $30 on eBay but $5.99 here. D'you know what I mean?

Bump :S.

As you probably already know - you can get the original PC Alice, along with the 2nd game's soundtrack... with the "Complete Collection".
There's just one problem with that - it's only available through EA's own online store -_-.
What's even more depressing is that even if I were willing to give in to all the potential DRM goodness, their store keeps ruthlessly redirecting me to its Polish ghetto -_-.

Any suggestions on how I can legally get both the games, in English, DRMfree?

I think this sucks too. I really wanted for this collection to be on steam as well. I still have my original physical copy but also wanted the re-released digital distribution version. I'm hoping that EA might eventually start selling the first one separately on steam at some point.

For those unfamiliar with the first Alice, here is the intro and 1st level in HD widescreen.
