Yeah, that works... we haven't had very clear discussions about anything except the engine, so far.
Until I actually get something working, the only direction in artwork I have is the attached map a few posts up. For an in-game-world avatar, I'll probably use a generic humanoid silhouette until something better creeps up, for a portrait picture I'll use the attached image.

Good idea for a setting... It's hard to think of something unique. Heh, actually, this gives me ideas to realise an idea of my own :D Too bad I suck so hard at graphics
I think the ideas I was tossing about involved 3 things
Red Dawn The RPG: Cold war resistance fighter kind of game, sneaking, dealing and somtimes shooting
WW2 Ghost Thing: A dealing with the afterlife and possibly the people you killed thing, mostly talky I think
Mad Science Experiment: Inspired by the screenshot above, thinking something portal-esque but with a lab experimenting on innocent people
Do you guys want extra help? I can do 3d modeling and texturing. I can also do some scripting.
Is this supposed to be a mod or indie game?
I'll be the guy who procrastinates and is responsible for delaying games to 2100.

Are you a former employee of 3D Realms?

No, but I have more than enough experience.

Well I'm thinking the latter depending on the rules for the use of the engine. Modelling & texturing is an area we lack

Indie game, yes. Seeing how We'll not use the actual Infinity Engine (that'd require either doing it as a mod to an existing game, or licensing the engine from Bioware), but the reverse-engineered open-source project, GemRB, which is licensed under GPL, I'd say we're pretty much free to publish the game as we wish, as long as any modifications to GemRB (the Python scripts that'll be specific to ERNIE, I guess) use the same license. Artwork, texts, and audio should probably use some form of Creative Commons.
Well if we create the art, text and audio then that's be a simple copyright belonging to us (or studio I suppose, we'd better make up a name one of these days)

What about 3D Realms? That's a good name.

Aye, I'm just pretty hooked on that "sharing" thing. Not completely alien to the "keep our assets under lock and key" mentality, but I much prefer the other way.

Nah I think I'd like to proceed from a position of hope, assuming that not only will we finish the project but that it won't suck once its done.

So we're NOT going to make anyone our bitch?

I like the idea but if we're going the indie game route and are going to charge for the final product, better to have at least the major creative parts protected

Not announcing it in advance, certainly
