keeveek: Not interested in this mediocre game. Well, I've only played it on Microsoft stand in gaming shop, and it was meh.

No visible blood was the worst. Horror game, with axes and shit but no blood? c'mon...
avatar
Whitecroc: Thriller, not horror. There's a difference, or so I hear.

You played it in a store and you call it "mediocre"? This was one of the best games of twenty ten. You're doing yourself a great disservice by judging it on something as trivial as lacking blood.
If you have enemies who die in a light, then it's a horror game, not thriller.

Core thriller shouldn't have any supernatural elements, like Silence of the lambs, for example.

And it's not one of the best games of 2010, because nobody actually bought it. (it sold poorly)

Graphics engine was superb, and nothing more. Maybe the story is good, but fighting mechanics? Nigga, please! Alan is walking through the forest, suddenly, wild enemies wave appears! (who look like undead rednecks if you asked me) Shoot fuckers up (and almost die of boredom), proceed. Oh, there's another stupid fight ahead of you. And maybe some EXTRA HARD puzzle like pulling the lever may surprise you. Oh, there's a cutscene. And another boring fight.

Maybe the story is good, but the rest of the game ruins eager to get to know it, for me.

It's like Silent Hill's retarded little brother.

yeah, because CoD MW2 is the best game ever made, right?

i can't believe you actually said that.
Here we go again. In entertainment industry, the good is what people buy. What people don't buy is clearly not the best, in business point of view.

I am not a gaming critic, I don't even listen to gaming critics, because they always shit higher than their ass is.

Reviewers liked it, gamers didn't. Just like Spore, for example.

People choose what is good on free market. Unless you like NOT making money.

Anyway, props to Microsoft, they're doing the sequel even though nobody bought the game.

Wigga, please? :P
It sold 1.4M units according to Wikipedia. Not a great source, but that's more than enough to make it a best-seller.

Lol, much more politically correct. Now I can sleep at night.
This game suit me, the atmosphere, horror, story. But it's too combat heavy and lot of shooting. Still thinking of getting it. But maybe not in near future.

this. 1+ million is always a decent number. it gets critical only if the sales are below 1 million, as was the case with Enslaved.
My golden question: "Is this require Steam ?"

Thinking of getting it on Gamers Gate some time later but it show as "Requires a 3rd party download and account".
Maybe in total + discounts? It was sold only 145 000 copies during first MONTH in US.

which is lower than horrible, if you compare to other AAA titles. For example, Red dead redemption hit one million in two weeks.

But it was sold decent, ok. But wasn't it the most expensive game from a long time? Decent is not enough, i think.

Probably it would be digital distrib. only, ergo: steam only...

you're obsessed with sales. why? sales numbers are no indicator for quality. by your logic Psychonauts would be a pretty bad game, as would be Enslaved.

in the case of Alan Wake, the game apparently sold well enough to make a sequel financially feasible. why bring the sales numbers up again? they're irrelevant at this point even for the investors.

it's not...

If that so, i can see the game on Steam sales soon. Maybe 20% - 33% off. I think i just have to wait for that.

Fred_DM: snip
I brought up the numbers, when sacramental sentence came out "one of the best games in 2010"

You have to look for sales, if you're making such statements. Because if somebody made "the best games of 2010" list and put only indie titles on it, or games released only in japan, it would be ridiculous.

But ok, Alan Wake sales was decent , end of story.

Still a shitty game to me :P

you sure don't. everybody knows Psychonauts sold badly. everybody also knows it's one of the best games made in recent years.

you're making a horrible mistake by consfusing "best" with "best-selling"...
