orcishgamer: People whine about anything. Honestly if you can afford a computer these days you can afford one of the current gen consoles (not you specifically, since you're not complaining). To me it's like bitching that Pokemon games only come out on Nintendo consoles, just weird.

DodoGeo: PROBABLY you can afford it and then again is it really worth it for just one game?

People were upset because they ignored the public that made them big, the PC crowd with Max Payne 1&2.

As you said with Epic, almost the same thing.

Most of all it would not surprise me if the game failed now. So much time has passed that people forgot about it and there is still a risk of getting a half-assed port.
Well, the thing about Alan Wake was it was a new property. I'm not aware that they made any snide statements about PC gamers or in any way denigrated the economics of PC gaming. I can generally forgive a company for releasing a new property on a different platform to "test the waters" (or for whatever reasons) as long as they're not being arrogant pricks about it and they're not locking away continuing content from a platform where the prequels existed.

Now I don't know exactly what happened with Alan Wake so I'm not saying the devs weren't being jerks here, I'm just not aware of it if they were.

As far as consoles go, yeah, it's a bad investment for one game, but there's quite a library of exclusives that aren't so bad on consoles and suddenly get rentals and swapping with friends back as opposed to PC gaming, so there could be more benefit to some for having one at the end of life price point than just being able to play one exclusive game.

Coming 16 Feb, $30, Steam.
I played the game at release, the only thing that made the game better than passable was the fact that I got the collectors edition with the book etc. Which added more depth to the story. If I played the vanilla version I think the game would have been quite disappointing.

So, if they do release it with the book etc., I would suggest you get that version if possible.
This game will unlock in approximately 22 hours...

PoSSeSSeDCoW: Hopefully they won't fall in the trap that other companies (I'm looking at you, Rockstar) do of releasing their year old game for full price.
It's gonna be $30, and the first two DLC episodes will be bundled in as well. It's actually looking as if it will be a PC port done right; there are supposedly a host of graphical options and multi-monitor support.

StingingVelvet: So much bitterness about this on other forums. Personally I'm happy to see it coming... looks like a good game and I don't have any consoles.
Bitterness about a game being released on another platform? I'm afraid I don't follow.
Not interested in this mediocre game. Well, I've only played it on Microsoft stand in gaming shop, and it was meh.

No visible blood was the worst. Horror game, with axes and shit but no blood? c'mon...

Don't worry, that's the proper reaction. Fanboys are moronic.
So should I be interested in this? Was it really any good?

I was previously a fan of rememdy, following the production of the first Max Payne from an early time (Check out this trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59LAbkciNb4 )

However, when they released Alan Wake xbox only, I lost all interest. Not because I'm anti-console but I've already got a playstation and most xbox games are on PC anyway. (And my PC is better than any xbox)

Your PC is better than Xbox or Xbox 360 :) Most of the games out there work just fine on Xbox 360 and not so perfect on every pc.

About the game - I own the Xbox 360 version and it's pretty damn good ;)

Thriller, not horror. There's a difference, or so I hear.

You played it in a store and you call it "mediocre"? This was one of the best games of twenty ten. You're doing yourself a great disservice by judging it on something as trivial as lacking blood.

I only played the first episode on my friend's Xbox (cause I'm in the same position as you), but I loved it. I'm probably going to wait for a sale since I have such a backlog, but it's ridiculously atmospheric, intriguing and entertaining. I'd definitely recommend it based on what I played.

I personally like the structure; each chapter is done up as an episode in a TV series, complete with a "Previously on" section and cliffhangers. There's a lot of Easter eggs too; my favourite is the talk show where they interview Alan Wake and the guy who played Max Payne.

"Go on Sam, do the face one more time." *constipated grin*

You're joking right. You must know that every game ever released has been dramatically improved by the addition of a "Tons more blood" patch.

What would soldier of fortune be without lots of blood.

Blood is the missing factor in todays games!
I think the game is so old already that they should publish it on GOG right away.

I was semi-interested to this game before, but I have no idea if it is any good, or why I would want it. Maybe I was interested to it because of Max Payne 1-2.
