SLP2000: Looks like they "secured" the rights. Which basically means, they got the licence agreement with Codemasters.
I'm guessing that's it, but they still use the verb "sold" in that sentence, which is what puzzles me. Oh well. I am not going to chip in anyway; a vague promise of a potential new Larry game that's hanging on way too many factors out of anyone's control is still not quite enough for me.

htown1980: can't help but think this kick-starter is just a little amateurish (not the game, just the kick-starter).
i mean, failing to originally state whether its drm free or steam based, getting one of the reward tiers wrong. also make reference to iPhone, linux, mac versions, etc, but not setting clear goals when those versions will be made. just seems a little rushed. i guess they just assume theres enough lsl fans out there...
i also note that they have previously announced this project (without crowd-sourcing):

You get it via Steam or DRM free download, presumably that means that you receive both. Or at least that's usually what that means. If they hadn't already decided, it's a bit too late to decide. i mean, failing to originally state whether its drm free or steam based, getting one of the reward tiers wrong. also make reference to iPhone, linux, mac versions, etc, but not setting clear goals when those versions will be made. just seems a little rushed. i guess they just assume theres enough lsl fans out there...

It does sound like they'll be changing some things, hopefully they won't run afoul of the fans the way that Sierra did when they released the updated version of King's Quest 1.

Agreed with all points. No clear "this is for the fans" attitude, looks like someone else is pulling the strings, no clear information on platform support.. etc. Seems like it was rushed. I did email them and told 'em that if I don't have any real input or commitment to the Linux platform, they don't get my money.
As much of a zealot that I am in regards to the Linux platform, the real underlying issue I seem to have with this kickstarter is the wishy washy attempt at giving a franchise new life. The people/community seems to matter less in this case.
And right... so who owns the IP then? I don't understand that either.

Reading through the information again im actually confused.
Wiki (haha) says Codemasters published the the last game in 2009. But i cant find any other reference to link them with rest of LSL series. Copyright lists Sierra as still the owners to IP rights (i could be very wrong of course)

Thanks for your support of LSL!
PC/Mac will be made first since we’re using the Unity engine. Linux is a port so that will only come if we exceed our funding goals.

Thats response i got asking about platforms.

A bit off-topic, but I am curious about who holds the license to Quest for Glory games. The next question will be if it is possible for Corey and Lori Ann Cole to start a kickstarter project on Quest for Glory.

As far as i am concerned, if kickstarter cant get me a new qfg game, it should be deleted.

hedwards: Good news. I hope that at very least when they're doing the coding that they do the coding with Wine in mind and stick mostly to things that Wine has implemented already. Replay Games

DCT: Actually it's a remake of a sorta remake since the original Larry game was a graphical version of Soft Porn Adventure also done by Sierra(back when they were just called Online) best remembered for having Roberta Williams naked in a hot tub with two other women on the cover.
In principle, it's a remake of a remake of a remake. The list goes like this: Softporn Adventure - 1981
Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards (AGI engine) - 1987
Leisure Suit Larry 1: In the Land of the Lounge Lizards (SCI engine) - 1991
Kickstarter Larry 1 Remake - 201?

Paingiver: Unity Engine?? What?? This is not an amateur project to use a amateur engine. Why they don't raise their lazy ass and write a new engine?? The new Larry seems lame to me. As said earlier, there are better Flash games than this. Awful animations, spritless. I hope this is just an early skatch and will get better. Post edited April 04, 2012 by uulav

uulav: Funny, you seem to know a lot of about game that haven't been even made yet. http://unity3d.com/
I didnt't heard it used for professional works though. Plus didn't you watch the video at the Kickstarter page?

Considering what you're looking at are prototypes and illustrations done to convey what they're planning, I hardly think that it's reasonable to judge the end product on it.
