Well basically it's only 15$ for the game, it's not exactly a rip off either. And the previous remake is already 21 years old so there is "prescription", Hollywood often doesn't wait that long before re-making remakes.

I enjoy seeing the numbers climb. Although I won't buy this or donate, it's great to have something else to watch now that the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter is wrapping up! :D

Oh yeah, way too many. Thing is, though, there are various people and various people like various things. So some will donate to Larry and others will donate to Wasteland 2 and the ones who started this trend donated to Double Fine. :)

Now, if you're interested in /all/, maintain a budget. Maybe take the money you would spend on one thing (health care) and give it to something else (digital boobage). Do that each month, and die happy.

I'd wait to see if at least ONE of these great kickstarter projects, like Wasteland 2 or Tex Murhpy (???) will be done, and won't turn out to be crap games, before I give any money on new projects...

Looks like a great way to extort some money, if you asked me. 500,000 for Larry 1 remake is waaay to overpriced....

For $100 they give you physical copies of the content plus a condom.
For $250 they give you 3 poker chips and a deck of cards.
For $1000 they give you a lithograph and a calander.
For $2500 they give you a big freaking banner.
For $5000 they make you a random voyeur stalker who protests sexial deviancy.
For $7500 they let your dog pee on Larry... or write you as a booze hound.
For $10000 they ship you off to meet Al.

Well, I don't have any hard data, but rough estimates indicate "a s#!tload". Could be good or bad, but I'm anticipating a mixture. (hopefully more good than bad :) The power of the game industry is returning to the gamers, to some degree...

Well basically all Kickstarter we had recently were "extortion" when you think about it... look at the Doublefine one : 100$ for a box, 250$ for a poster autographed by some game dev, 500$ for an artbook, ... Even in it's wildest dreams Bobby Kotick would never have thought something like that to be possible.

Fair point, there is room for improvement depending on your choice of device. I only ever played this on the Pandora where it ran fine. It's a safe bet the new version won't support that platform which is one up for scummVM at least.

If I'd never bought it in the past, I'd pay the $15 myself but I've got both versions already and I really can't see myself shelling out for it a third time. I'm no doubt in the minority but I was similarly uninterested with the Monkey Island remakes but at least they cost less, were larger games and didn't require payment up front.

This was a really short game. If it's a straight remake, I can see myself playing through this in under an hour and never touching it again which doesn't sound like a great deal even at $15. I'll probably put some money in if I hear something about original content but a new game would have been so much better.

This is one thing, but I think about it in other way. Even if all of these games WILL be made in future (and not like in next 10 years), if Double Fine Adventure be worth 3 million bucks? Remake of Larry, if it's going to be worth 500,000 ? I highly doubt it...

Yep, but now they all need to invest that money. I don't think it would be ethical or even legal to spend that money on hookers.

Actually it's a remake of a sorta remake since the original Larry game was a graphical version of Soft Porn Adventure also done by Sierra(back when they were just called Online) best remembered for having Roberta Williams naked in a hot tub with two other women on the cover.

I personally don't mind donating since if anything it will help encourage more Larry games

That's kind of impossible to say as it depends of too many factors, a bunch of indy dev/musicians can make a 100+ hours games for 100'000 bucks or less but on the other side if you hire professional devs, professional musicians and actors, etc... you can end up having troubles making a 1 hours long game for 500'000$.

In the end "how much they want" is more or less irrelevant, what's really important is how much you are ready to pay for it (or should I say to "bet" as it's closer to a bet than a preorder).
