INTRODUCTION

Hundreds of open lanterns hang from the ceilings. The fires dim, then explode with a mighty fury!

Zimir and his daughter, Brigrath emerge from behind a curtain on a balcony above you. They are Quenahli: humanoids that resemble crocodiles in appearance. Both are donned in long purple robes, wearing heavy chains of gold around their necks.

Zimir speaks,

"Listen to the legend of Pallad!" he exclaims.

The crowd roars.

"Just years ago, this land was held captive by spirits. They possessed man, woman and child alike. Thinking being turned against thinking being under the influence of this ghastly evil. The land was in turmoil!"

The roaring grows louder.

"Until," he resumes, but the crowd interrupts him, shouting, "until Pallad!"

"Until Pallad," he starts again, "a wise Quenhali chieftan provided us with the cure!"

"Praise Pallad," the crowd cheers, "praise his name!"

Zimir speaks again,

"It was courage, Pallad told us. It was courage alone, he said, that would bring peace and order back to this land. The bravery of Quenhali, of Humankind, of Reon and rarely of Gobbler could restore the natural state of this land.

"And so, from that time until now, we, the thinking beings of this world, have displayed our courage in this very stadium, and the wicked spirits have been kept at bay.

"This fight, as with all fights, is dedicated to Pallad! Contestants, begin!"
