Christmas. I'm getting married next year, so all of the sudden I've got *TWO* families making me do stuff that I may or may not want to do. LOL.

The upside is.. two sets of presents.

Back to the game: I will be responding to ALL the posts tonight. :)

Also, I've been working on two different quests (one combat oriented and one not combat oriented) that I will be introducing shortly. :)

My character has temporarily left the tavern to go to his room, so I've stopped posting. I'm in PM with Drennan, but he doesn't seem to have responded since December the 29th.

My character is still hanging around in the tavern. He saw the notice about the arena, he's interested in the prizes, but open-area combat is not his expertise.

Edit: When the story begins, have you already decided to form the party? Or are you just bumping into each other and you want to form the party?

We met briefly in the tavern, but haven't met since then (in character), so I think it's probably fair to say we'll turn up independently, for similar reasons.

For now, though, it's far too late where I am, and I need to go to sleep. We can get started tomorrow, though!

EDIT: Oh, another world lore question. The reward is stated to be '500 gold pieces', but how much is a gold piece worth? Most fantasy worlds tend to be fairly consistent, but it can vary from a couple of gp for a loaf of bread to 20gp for a magic weapon, so I thought I should check what can actually be bought for that money!

I definitely need to write up a "FAQ"

I'm using the formula that a simple weapon (e.g. shortsword) = 100 GP.) Things scale up and down from there, depending on time/location/etc,

I'll be opening a merchant's shop soon, so you will be able to buy and sell. For the sake of limiting supply, the merchant will only be allowed to sell items that characters have sold to him.

One point about the 500 gold: you are being paid that gold in advance. You will receive another (cooler) reward, but only if you complete the task. :)

Ok, rather less than I'd thought, but I guess it's the 'pay in advance' payment rather than the quest reward.

By the way, is the first post a notice in the Inn?

Either way, I'd like to spend part of the advance money on any of these items which it isn't assumed I have:

Backpack
Map (showing the appropriate locations)
Water Bottle/Waterskin

Mostly, though, I think my shapeshifting will provide me with any equipment I need. It's handly like that :)

Oh, and if there are healing potions available in the game and here, I'll buy one if I have the money.

Also, Drennan, wouldn't it be better to meet while accepting the quest from 'C.E.'?
