Jack

Jack the Knife strode through the hills west of Northbrook, looking for any sign of a Gobbler settlement. The most common indication of their presence is the echo of their chirpy voices throughout the high places. Jack heard it time and time again but was never able to pinpoint their location.

Finally, he arrived at a cave entrance engraved in the appropriate gwara. It read:

RAGRE NG LBHE CREVY

Does Jack the Knife wish to enter the cave or continue searching?

No active orders. Currently relaxing at the guildhall, perhaps leering at Roe from time to time. The Ringmaster has delivered the contents of Miken's file to him, and he intends to share it when his allies return.

Lewendor

Lewendor searches Miken's former abode.

He finds:

1. Evidence that the two other traitors also resided there (two other bedrooms, fully furnished, assorted knick knacks likely belonging to the traitors.)

2. A well detailed map, likely leading to the Nog Statue was located in the cellar where the Compass was found. It has been scrawled over and it is now completely impossible to decipher it. Lewendor does not remember the map being in the cellar when they raided the hideout.

3. Otherwise, the hideout looks to have been completely abandoned. There is no indication that anyone has been here since the day the Black Brigade fought the traitors. This is confusing: for it is unlikely that Miken had another hideout.

4. The Djinn is still here and may be questioned. As always, there will be a price.

Jack decides to wait and observe for few hours. He looks for an appropriate spot in the hills that will give him a clear view of the cave mouth without him being seen. Upon finding the appropriate place, he settles down and begins to observe...
Jack has waited for 12 hours and watched the cave from a distance. He has observed nothing but stillness. The sun has now set and darkness is creeping over the hills.

Jack decides to enter the cave despite the warning. He could never win against his own curiosity.
At first glance, Jack believes the cave to be abandoned. There is a slope near the entrance of the cave. He climbs down further into the cave. At around fifty feet into the cave, darkness has surrounded him.

A rogue has keen eyes, even in the dark, but his eyes are not strong enough to help him here. He sees the flicker of small torches close in height to his waistline.

He presumes the torch carriers to be Gobblers. There are six of them, and they appear aggressive. Despite the tiny stature of this strange race, it is unlikely that Jack can win this fight.

What does he do?
Jack, upon seeing 6 torches at waist height, decides to slowly retreat while hoping he doesn't make a sound.
Jack retreats silently towards the cave entrance. He sees no suitable hiding location as the cave is too narrow. The torchbearers move at a fast pace, and Jack is eventually cornered near the cave entrance. Attempting to climb up the slope would allow the torchbearers to close the distance, and potentially drag him back into the cave. The moonlight shines through the cave and reveals that Jack's suspicions were correct, the six figures are Gobblers.

OOC: since we're going against the AI, so to speak, I won't use rot13 for the time being.

Jack spoke to the Gobblers in Zii:

"I come in peace! I am looking for someone. If you wish me to leave your abode then let me know."

He then proceeds to disarm himself in order to show the Gobblers he bears no ill will towards them.
The Gobblers poke and prod at Jack the Knife, confused that a human can speak their language. They have singed him with their torches and he has taken 6 damage. His HP has been reduced from 36 to 30.

One Gobbler, wearing a ceremonial hat (indicating a position of leadership) stands over Jack.

"I am known by the name Krog. You disarm yourself in our presence, you speak our language, yet you are not Gobbler. What is your business here?"

"I am looking for information about a former comrade of mine who may now be alive in the worst sense.. Perhaps you and your people might know?" Jack the proceeds to describe Miken to the Gobbler king.
The Gobblers appear visibly disturbed. Several of them have placed their hands upon their stomachs.

Krog: "Hmmmmmmmm... do not like. Person people name does not rhyme. Ok for me, Krog, but person people's name does not rhyme with our language. Not even with your own. I do not know him but no good person people he is.

"Clearly!" one Gobbler responds.

The Gobblers begin to chant.

"NAME NOT RHYME! NAME NOT RHYME! NAME NOT RHYME!

The Gobblers are becoming visibly agitated.

"HIS NAME NOT RHYME! HIS NAME NOT RHYME! HIS NAME NOT RHYME!" they chant.

Krog waves his hand to silence the crowd.

"Tell you what person people, name unknown. You do not harm us, nope you don't, put your weapon down, you're not a clown, person people who speaking to us our own speak! I got to go get information. Little trip to make, not good for a person people to do. I tell you a thing or two about this non-rhym-"

The Gobblers interrupt him with a chant. "NAME NOT RHYME! NAME NOT RHYME! NAME NOT RHYME!"

Krog waves his hand again.

"I get information for you. Not safe journey for you to make nope no way. You do me a favor today. We require the yummy yummy."

OOC: Sorry for the late post guys. My brother, his wife and their 3 kids decided they would visit this weekend instead of next. They are not supposed to leave until sometime Tuesday morning and they have been driving me crazy. Their little girl is 1 1/2 years old and into everything she can get her hands on. I've barely got a moments rest since they came. Xirdneh will just have to hang around the guild hall and chat up the ladies for now.

OOC: No problem. The story with Jack will take a bit of time and so too with Lewendor.

"What is this yummy yummy??" Jack inquired while picking up his weapons and putting them away. "Of course I'll get it for you, I just need to know what it is and why do you need it so badly..."
