Hesusio: I don't mean to be a killjoy here, but it seems a little unfair that Pazzar gets missile bracers for free for the round when mine were donated by my team mates (thanks guys, sorry I only just noticed that now, lol). I know it gives our team an advantage, but that's kind of the whole point of spending the gold in the first place. The 75 gold is kind of wasted if it only means the other team is going to get the same piece of equipment for free.

stoicsentry: As DM, sometimes we need players to speak up and other times, to shut up. In this case, I thank you for your honesty.

Your point is well made. There are several cans of worms here that I would prefer not to open.

To mitigate the issue, the Wanderers will be allowed to buy them if they can put together the coin before the first move.

I do not want to appear wishy-washy, but your point is most valid.

Again, thank you.
No worries. Pedantry is kind of my thing.
I agree Hesusio.... with all things being equal. But I recently stopped accounting things. Seemed odd that Blue could have so much more armor And bracers when Wanderers could afford so little in comparison (how'd Milkman get all that gear and still have enough left to hook you up?). Hero and I pooled our resources to offer Pazzer what we can. We couldn't afford a bracer for him. Or that Wanderers won the first round but Blue got the better end of the potions. +

Ahh. Theres no profit in those thoughts. And I'm sure to have missed something. I'd have to go back and invest some serious time in cost accounting. Not fun. I think I've already been a stick in the mud with the whole repel thing and the attack retreat thing. Not my intent. So I'm playing this one out and just going along for the fun of it. After this I may retire to spectate.

Noooooooo don't retire.

I think one of the "gold sinks" you fell into was the weapon slot (75 g)

You can contact Exile (Landeril) I'm sure he would help out, too.

I believe Fexen had to sell some equipment to afford the bracers for me, and he footed most of the bill I believe. Look, my concern isn't that my team is losing the extra d6 damage advantage (though it is a nice perk, don't get me wrong), it's more that my team mates spent quite a bit of gold on my character for it and it was being effectively being negated, so their gold was effectively wasted.
I'm not complaining gold. Was just replying. Can of worms indeed. More can be said. But why? Some balance fixes have already occurred. The game is fun that is the point. If someone wants to cry balance between the teams I really don't want to get into it since truth be told I think the balance swung Blue directly after first round game one. I'm not especially bothered by this unless Blue whines it. Otherwise its close enough to have some challenge.

My retiring is something different. Nothing you did Sotic friend. It's just about time for me to hermit up again. ;~p

The only way I saw the balance swing towards Blue was in regards to Repel, but Repel has been neutered, so you should be alright. I don't see any clear favorite here, at all. :)
I mean I could explain but why? Its all good. I just tripped a fuse reading Blue. I mean you look at the original gold awarded last game (before modification). Then you factor the double move Blue got to counter Wanderers getting first move, then Repel, and Blue losing round one but getting the better reward... well that didn't bother me much at all until reading Blue post about the bracer (and I don't know whats up with that... Hero and I pooled our money and offered it Pazzer days ago. We only had enough for Pazzer to get one armor item and he passed.)

But still it ain't much a deal. Ignore me. I'm about as drunk as I get. Had good time with family BBQ today. I'm seeing about double lol. Thoughts are near norm enough though lol. The retire bit has been on my mind from mid game last round though. You've just got a good game here Stoic. I wanted to help it grow before retreating to back to the shadows.

Well, it swung to Blue in game 2, for sure. Though, even then, nobody really ended up winning. I would have to go back and look to see who ended up with the most gold - I don't think any gold was won in game 1, game 2 Blue Team might have come out a tad ahead (but not much, that 2nd weapon slot cost you 75), but then again, there wasn't really a winner of game 2. In game 1, it was all in the Wanderers favor (1 character practically eliminated from the start due to shoddy placement on my part.)

Then again, really, there hasn't been much of a benefit to winning a round yet really. (Hero got a passive ability in game 1, Wanderers got +5HP worth of potions, then game 2, Fexen got a passive, but that's about it.) This is really the first team on team game with a real huge benefit to winning (the coins).

In any event, I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch. You're a good guy, I believe that wholeheartedly.
Ok, just to finish beating the dead horse here. In the past, we have had balance issues. It's to be expected, I pretty much invented the game during the month of June. 95% of that invention was me working all by myself, so 1 month, 1 person, sparse help.

We've also had requests for more and more and more complex features to the game. Guess what? When we add a whole bunch of new features, new spells/skills/etc., naturally, there are going to be balance issues. The purpose of the [AiV] main thread is to offer feedback/suggestions/observations regarding current or potential issues within the game. I encourage everyone to do so, as often as they have the inclination to.

I have never once dismissed *anyone* on *any* of their balance recommendations, whether they were valid or invalid IMO. I have always striven to carefully consider any and all requests.

I am not a professional game designer, I do not make money off of this game or any of my others. In fact, in most cases, I *give away* money for playing. Hell, I'm currently on the hook for $26 more dollars of GOGs just to get some cool community artwork up on the blog.

Therefore, not being a professional, do I do everything right? Not at all. But I do try as best as I can, because I love the concept of this game, roleplaying/fantasy in general and the story and the interactions we're all having.

I understand the urge to be competitive, and also to have a fully formed system finalized before investing any time. If that's how you feel, I get it, I do. But currently, there's nothing I can do about that. I'm having fun just with all the storylines, characters, working out the kinks, etc. So if that's ultimately the way you view things, then probably the best thing to do is not to get involved at this point... no hard feelings at all.

There's currently no penalty for losing a single game. Might be a couple more little goodies for the winning side, but not much. Matter of fact, you gain a level whether you win or lose. So, this is not high stakes poker. It's not the end of the world, no matter what happens: this is purely for fun. If you're into it for that, then I thank you for actively helping to "reveal" this story, which is growing by the day.

Course, I sure do welcome you being "in it to win it" as well, but I just ask you to have some perspective for the sake of my sanity... this is a very, very, very tough endeavor here and I'm doing all I can to provide you with the best possible experience.... I've been working about 3 hours per day, 7 days a week on the game. It's a labor of love, but it's also tough as hell.

The game will fall short, I will make adjustments, it will fall short again, and further adjustments, and still it will fall short yet again, but we are making progress.

To make a long story even longer, if you feel the need to withdraw at any time for any reason, it's as simple as a PM... and again, absolutely no hard feelings.

So with that out of the way, hopefully we can get back to the game and to the fun..... thanks.

Hey, it's all fun, why else do it?!!?

Personally I find these little tiffs quite amusing as well, but that's probably because I'm a bit twisted!

I just don't see the point in rehashing everything that has come to pass in the past. I mean, what is the point? Let's play, or not play...

So, when do we start round 3?
avatar
fexen: So, when do we start round 3?
Whenever everyone is ready, each team may PM me their first move.

This is movement turn 1 (M1)

As a reminder, the movement turn works like this:

Each character goes through the movement turn in this order:

1.) Effects phase: deal with effects from last turn. These are typically choices or consequences related to the box where you ended your last turn in. Assume that you have no effects to worry about unless I tell you otherwise.

Next,

2.) Movements phase: use your movement. Most characters can move 1 box per turn, unless otherwise specified.

3.) Exchanges phase: *If* you are in the same box as another character after moving/not moving, you may give 1 item to that character OR; receive 1 item from that character. Both characters must agree to the exchange. You may not both give AND receive, only one or the other.

After this, I will:

1) Keep an updated inventory.
2) Redraw the map.
3) Deal with effects, if needed.
I would like to create a 10 HP healing potion before the battle begins. Also, will I have to throw out one of my 5 HP potions, or can I give one of them to someone before making a new one?

Done. You can give it away, yes.
