I have read in the AoW3 Reviews that even the gog version requires an online account and to logged in to play the DLC for this title.

Is this true?

Is gog selling games with clear DRM still attached?

Even if you can play the base game as a "guest" that is not what you are buying on a DRM free gaming site.

Are the reviewers wrong is this game truly DRM free, or is there DRM attached to this game on gog?

Thank you

You're not the first to ask this question... It's been all over the general board too. Old, old topic...

Opinions on Age of Wonders 3 so called DRM
Thanks, it appears I am still wondering about the DRM situation.

It would appear you are. :P
It seems very sad it is not clearly and simply stated by gog. Their entire premise is DRM Free games.

A person should not have to wonder if a game sold here is truly DRM free, or that parts may be DRM free but not the entire game.

Step up and tell it plainly.

I think it was cleared that the game doesn't need an account, that was a bug and it has been patched. I'll link the post when I find it.

edit: best I could find: http://www.gog.com/forum/age_of_wonders_series/triumph_account_username_and_password/post6

An account is only needed for MP, and you can save settings etc. in guest mode as well.

If I recall correctly, the game was patched the day after release. What happened, as I understand it, was that a multiplayer account was required to adjust and save settings. Again, as far as I know (I was following the thread on release day) the game was literally patched the next day - it was a glitch whereby it wasn't possible to save settings in single player without creating an account. If it weren't a glitch that was fixed, I certainly would have viewed that as pretty rude (requiring me to make an account that must verify with a server is NOT something I want to do to save my video settings!). When it was shown that it was required to do this for single player as well, it was quickly patched out so you can now save all your settings without having that multiplayer account.
His lack of faith is disturbing.
Ooooh neat I was ninja'd for the first time! ;)

No way I'm excited - I saw discussion of what it was just a few days ago - I had no clue prior - so this is a special moment for me

Actually, it's the second sentence. You could always adjust the settings.

DLC was also always playable without ever going online.
