27.01.2012 was a special day for me. Yeah, you guessed it right - on that they I signed up here because I found the game I wanted to play urgently (my CD was broken) - Age of Wonders

and that is, my little ones, how I discovered GOG.com

This alone is a good occasion to celebrate. Is there a better way than a giveaway? But! Speaking about discoveries: I think from all games I bought here one of them qualify as a biggest discovery: I expected it to be a funny little game, nothing really special but somewhat entertaining. I turned out to be one of my favorites of all time. As you can easily figure out I'm talking about Defender's Quest.

So to keep it short: the winner of the contest will get both games. If you have any of them please let me know - I will give it to a second winner. Oh yeah, I used the word "contest" so random.org will stay out of this. You have to write a short essay to win. The rules are pretty easy:
- one essay per person
- up to 500 words
- the contest will last until 27.01.2013 (around midday in Poland)
- no rep requirements but if you registered in January 2013 please post a link to any of your post indicating that you had joined the community before I started the contest
- what the essay should be about? It's up to you. There is only one catch: you have to use those four nouns at least once: "age", "wonder", "defender" and "quest" (you can use the plural form but do not change it to a verb, adjective or anything else)
- Be original! Be awesome!
- And the most important yet! It's prohibited to use word "spacebar" (ask QC if you don't know why;)
+1 for a giveaway of an awesome game.

Great giveaway, thanks and +1. I'm not in.
Very nice giveaway and as an unloved and unappreciated Lit major let me thank you for encouragement of the written word. That being said I have no desire to write an essay write now so I will leave it to someone else to procure these wonderfull games. +1!

BUMP!

Nobody cares to write something? It's UP to 500 words, you can win those games with just one sentence (including those four nouns of course) ;)
Once upon a time, in an age of horrors and wonders, a brave warrior named Ghorpm, defender of the city of GOG, went on a journey to find the holy chalice. Unfortunately, he never returned, so no one knows what happened to him and his quest.

That good enough ? :)) In only for Age of Wonders, as I have DQ.

Licurg: That good enough ? :))
Definitely, you are in ;)

Heh, heh - a brave warrior named Ghorpm ;)
In a time where darkness covered the Land, an age of terror and despair ,a hero....no no no a defender....oh i got a_______(insert your class) step up and went for a quest for "The Wonder of ______(choose a destination) a relic so powerful can could turn the tide(literally).
So he rode up and down back and forth, stepping into dungeons, killing drm (demons, rodents and manticores)and
finally after so many hours...
He opened the chest and its was EMPTY well only a letter was there actually:

"Promotion for 5€ the extented ending. Quick before the world's Ending."

The End.

Sorry the grammar, quite a while since i wrote post that long and English its not my native language.

Kudos for the giveaway.
BUMP!
+1, not entering since I already have DQ and Shadow Magic.
So you accept short stories as well, not just essays?

Thanks for the giveaway!
The stars. We watch quietly beneath them in this day and age, wonder and amazement and bemusement of the Galaxy. And we as humans strive ever more and longer to be among them, to be among the glitter of lights that has lasted for eternities longer than we can ever hope to imagine, hope to understand. We've made it our quest to achieve the unthinkable, all of mankind, and we've accomplished it time in again, and now we work to do so again, out in the deep voids, a place where physics can quickly become no longer relevant, where it's possible to stretch time to nothingness, where we are forced to rethink all that has existed, and all that we thought could never exist. So what are we to find out there among the stars, the planets? Nobody knows, not but the stars themselves, the possible creatures hiding on a world that has been so lucky to be perfectly placed to sustain life like ours would know. But we exist. And to quote Arthur C Clarke, "Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying." A Universe, where we are alone, when we exist to begin, is unlikely. We might meet creatures beyond the stars one day, or we may never live to see that. But some day humans could be so lucky as to make contact. And on that day, will we be defenders of a race that has so little reason to exist, a race destructive to our own kind and our own world, against a predator far more fearsome than any among us? Or will we find peace in a way we could have never known before, a new glorious age of prosperity, knowledge, exploration, and comfort? There's only one way to know. And we must travel onward to find out. Come with me, my fellow people, fellow humans, and let us discover together what place this Universe has for us.

(My counter hits 333 words. Didn't plan that. Also, spacebar spacebar spacebar spacebar you know you're gonna touch it)

I think I'm the first entry. I have my mind a bit on space thanks to our most recent release that I'm really wanting to buy, but for now let's hope I can win this. Thank you for the opportunity.

But the prize is the original Age of Wonders and not Shadow Magic so if you don't have it you can still participate.

Read OP ;) I worte :"random.org will stay out of this" there. I will choose the winner myself based on how I liked the essay/story or whatever was written. Just like it was with insane giveaway - it wasn't random at all but a person who posted the sickest and weirdest video got the game ;)
