Hi all,

there is a fantasy indie turn-based strategy that probably not many you have heard about (as with other indie games).

It's supporting Windows, Linux and Mac OS X (10.5+)

We are actively working on adding it to GOG collection, but you can try it from our site for now. We are also currently working on sequel with same engine, thus any feedback is more than welcome.

Thank you and have a good time!
Les

P.S. There is also discount code at the end of demo :-)

This looks kind of nifty. I may have to check it later when I have more time.
I like the name and idea. Graphics looks like the stuff you get on phone nowdays but I may check the emo later.
It looks pretty good. As a minor spelling niggle, isn't the past tense of "strike" supposed to be "struck"? English is not my first language, but I'm pretty sure it's not "striked".
I think it may have serviced the game better to provide a few of the later missions for the demo rather than the first four.

Honestly i wanted to like it but other than move and attack i couldn't see any other tactical considerations. Terrain played no part in combat, no flanking or LOS obstruction to worry about and other than each units one type of attack the only other combat option was Krill's magic beam and the banshee's special attack in the final mission.

The artwork for the unit cards i liked and would have preferred to use counters of the same artwork rather than the battlefield sprites.

You are probably right about mission selection - it was not the ideal decision.
There is much more interesting skills in game (like taking control over enemy units, disease, buffs, etc), but the demo does not show this :-(

Well, that's our first game so we had to learn.
In sequel the game will start in much more complex configuration.

Thanks anyway!

P.S.
I have send you the free key - if you have time please let us know what do you think can be done better.

Interesting. It makes me very much of a mashup of Battle for Wesnoth and one of my all-time favourite classic games, Bungie's Myth: The Fallen Lords. It's definitely on my short-list of "indie games to check out/buy soon". Thank you for showing your dedication to cross-platform gaming by having Mac and Linux releases.

I will say though - GOG isn't a very appropriate venue for this game, given what GOG's general core market is. Have you looked into releasing on Indievania/Desura/GamersGate or even Steam?

To be honest - Battle of Wesnoth were our muse!
I have played Battle of Wesnoth and it's very good game, however I missed ranged attacks and more meaningful magic.
Therefore, I would like to think of AOF as a extension to Battle of Wesnoth :-)

I also loved Myth TFL, thus I guess you can see some similarities. However, no Molotov cocktail dwarfs :-D

We are already on Gamers Gate and Desura also accepted, thus it shall be there pretty soon :-)

Unfortunately, Steam rejected - it's generally very hard for indie game to be on Steam and they don't provide any feedback at all :-(
I guess when you have 70% of market you don't have to care about small guys.
Heya,

This looks neat. I like that there's two story options, hero (knight) and villain (necromancer). Also like that game is compatible with Windows, Linux, & Mac. The two-for-the-price-of-one license deal is attractive, too. And it's good to see someone carrying the torch for turn-based strategy instead of real-time strategy! :-)

The order page asks us to choose an operating system... Do we only get one version of the game with an order? I sometimes use Linux, so if you could make it so that we get all (or at least two, the Windows & Linux versions), I'd buy the two-for-one deal for myself and a buddy to support what you're doing.

I hope you get your games on Steam and GOG, too, but plz don't ever become a Steam-exclusive if you guys make it big! I couldn't support you in that case. :-P

Best of luck with everything!

Hi,

You can download all three versions with the same license key!
Just order one, then get to downloads page and paste your license key there:
http://www.age-of-fear.net/index.php/aof-downloads

I will make a note that in shop.
Thanks!

Guys, thanks for so many orders!
It seems that posting here was superb idea!

Also, as we are near X-Mas, I will tell you one secret - lose first Edward's battle twice :-)
I hope you will like the joke ;-)

Happy X-Mas!

Hi,

yesterday someone tried to use credit card for order, but it failed several times (I see logs from our distributor).

I saw this forum as referrer site, thus there is a chance you are reading this.

I am not sure why it failed, but please PM me and we will handle it by PayPal.

Thanks
Les
