Remedy still aren't ruling it out apparently. They said if they do it, they're doing it properly. So who knows. With this recent switch from Microsoft, I could see them releasing it next year, and maybe Fable II as well.

Was there really a whole lot more to do with it, though? Honestly, there was only so far the AoE concept could be taken before it was going to become just a prettier version of what had already been played.

Poor Microsoft, still wanting to advertise shitty GFWL with this game and Microsoft Flight. Flight will be a simulator like Flight Simulator Series and core simulator gamers are playing it. Not achievements maniacs are playing Flight Simulator games, LOL to Microsoft.

They shouldn't had fired all of Ensemble Studios, as it is (was) a well-known name, just re-organize it. I would gladly play a IV and V, even without gigantic differences/updates.
Just update some things here and there, do something different like Rise of Nations got in the first place like borders, better diplomacy like Civ5 is doing, etc. instead of this Online game.
Since I saw that Spartan image I thought it would be an action game with a bit of strategy, but not a casual online title.
Yeah, sad part is that maybe all of this is only to promote GFWL...
Google and Apple are directly entering the social gaming scene. So, they might have felt "forced" to enter this market and represent MS.

man why could not they just keep expanding the aoe 1 and aoe 2 those were perfect simple interface,ran well and was fun to play but aoe 3 failed big time :X

I actually don't think AOE3 was as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. It WAS a step down from 2, but it was actually a decent game. Actually, the expansions were excellent, because they added civilizations that were actually unique to play.
As for the AoE series, Rise of Nations really stepped in and improved completely on that whole design. That's why I'm not certain there were a whole lot of places to go with the series.

A free to play social network thing is not my idea of an AoE sequel. I am not bashing it really, I am sure it will be a game a lot of people enjoy judging by other examples, but it is not an AoE game I would be interested in.
Oh well.
Fable 3 at least is a real game, despite being super streamlined. I hope we see Halo, Gears and Alan Wake ports eventually.
