Those cards do not need less power than TDP; in fact, they will probably run over TDP, especially if factory overclocked.

I think I may not have made my point about the sub-500 watt power supplies clearly. Whether it's from a solid manufacturer is meaningless. There are no first-rate sub-500W power supplies on the market from any manufacturer. There is no reason to assume that the OP has a power supply that does not in fact exist. The closest thing to a satisfactory sub-500W power supply would be the Delta-made Antec Earthwatts 430D. But that's not adequate to power a card that must be able to pull 6A and 8A over two separate auxiliary connectors.

iippo: but ofcourse we do not know anything of OP's psu. i think?

K_1269: No, unfortunately I don't know the brand. Might be able to say more nexttime I turn my pc off and can take a better look. Not that I think it's that important. If I decide on GPU that needs more power I'll upgrade the PSU. Of course would be nicer to go with a GPU that is fine with my PSU as is.

About your links, it seems you favor cards with less memory than the ones I picked. Any particular reason for that?
if you can get 4gb for the same price as 2gb/3gb take it - but otherwise feel free to skip. 4gb is not worth it unless youre gaming on multimonitor setup with far higher resolution what you have now.

for 1920x1080 2gb or 3gb doesnt make that much difference. between this posted cards you dont really have to pay attention to it.

edit: decent quality 500-600W power costs like 50-70€ id say.

cjrgreen: There aren't any power supplies below 500W that I'd trust with one. Not that the system draw would exceed 450W. But that no sub-500W power supply has adequate quality or proper distribution of 12V on the auxiliary connectors.
avatar
iippo: well, we ofcourse dont know what quality his PSU is - if its from solid manufacturer they typically output more than what promised and the cards need less W than what they say there.

typically GPU manufacturers suppose that people use crappy PSU's so they give higher demand that what it is in reality.

but ofcourse we do not know anything of OP's psu. i think?

iippo: I am using GTX 770 on Superflower 600W gold - i think i have like 100W too much "oomph", but it was cheap and i was tempted :( ...its silent though so shouldnt complain.
Could you run the same settings on Witcher2, I did and show the results?

Thanks for all the info again. Still wondering though, for the cards I original picked, I wouldn't need to upgrade my PSU, right?

well, the HIS and Zotac i linked use same GPU chips and had PSU recommendations of 600W - so i would wager those two have similar PSU needs. should check manufacturers own product pages.

I just kept making screenshots with the current framerate displayed by RadeonPro. Not an overall benchmark, you need to own the game I think.

Gainward 760: http://www.gainward.com/main/product/vga/pro/p00913/p00913_datasheet_138851c3cef50cac2.pdf?s=710

Graphics card require:
 PCI Express-compliant motherboard with two and half
width x16 graphics slot
 Two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power
connectors
Minimum 500W or greater system power supply (with
a minimum 12V current rating of 30A)
PCB: 247mm(L)x112mm(W)  Microsoft Windows 8, 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP

Sapphire 270x: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&pid=2043&psn=&lid=1&leg=0#

500 Watt Power Supply is required.

...so the chances are your current PSU might not be enough for either card.

Yeah, just found out as well. Suppose I'll have to upgrade the PSU afterall then, no matter which card I go with :(

if you pick quality one though, it will last long. i had seasonic for like 10 years. used it on 3 computers and now its in my friends computer - still working just fine and cool as ever :D

oh i own it alright, just not installed. also thats not very good way to compare computer performance results.

I run some tests on 3dMark if youre interested:

while waiting, you could consider trying something bit more old fashioned: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/100243/STALKER--The-SciFi-Roleplaying-Game?

dont have to worry about GPU either ;)
Thanks to you all for the help! Went with the GTX760 and the SeasonicS12G.

Unfortunately I can only mark one answer as solution. Decided to go with lemurias post, as that comparison link was very helpfull concerning the original question.

Big thanks also to you iippo, found your posts very informative and helpfull! Also found the PSU due to your recommendation :) ( +1s)
