Hi all,

Recently i bought a couple of games on GOG and absolutely hated them! So rather than continuing that trend, i thought i might ask if you guys might have any ideas on the sort of games i might like based on a list of games i do and do not like.......

Like;
Alpha Centauri
Civilization call to power
fantasy wars
Liberation day
gallactic assault
disciples
Eador
Total annihilation
Unreal tournament
Quake1
Rifles
Galactic Civilisations
Lords of the realm 2
Lionheart legacy of the crusader
Age of empires1
Rise of nations
Dungeonsiege 2
Medieval 2 Total war

Games i do not like only because they are to hard:
Starcraft
Warcraft - All
Age of empires after1
Most new release games
Homeworld is unique, i like it but it is a bit difficult, so i never feel like playing it again. Games where it is a bit difficult controlling forces, i won't like. This is why i don't like Starcraft or warcraft but like Total annihilation which has improved automation.
X series - i love the X series, x2 x3 but the steep learning curve is a real killer. I have bought Terran alliance but never played it yet......Games with steep learning curves are not what i am looking for right now. A game like Fantasy wars is a godsend in that regard!

Games i bought on GOG that i did not like:
Battle isle
Colonization
Ultima3
King of Dragon pass

I did not like the above games because they looked too primitive, I would put my primitive tolerance level right about where disciples Gold is, anything less and i won't like it.

Based on all the above can anyone recommend any games on GOG right now that i might like?
Try Age of Wonders.

Master of Magic is also fantastic, but it might be too dated for you.
Looks like u love/like RTS turn-based & FPS(first person shooting) games

As for Warcraft & Starcraft, those r pretty hard to learn, move fast doing the right moves/builds & looking around different locations, instead of 1 focus location
Yeah, I can see how one can like Civ-type games and not like Colonization. Sooo much micromanaging to be done. It isn't for everyone, that's for sure.

Anyway, since you seem to like Galactic Civilizations I would heartily recommend the Master of Orion double pack (1+2). Especially the second one is still one of the best in its genre, as far as I'm concerned.

I also see you like Fantasy Wars, Eador, and Disciples, so you'll probably have a good time with something like King's Bounty: The Legend or one of the Heroes of Might & Magic games - 2 or 3 are the ones to recommend, depending on who you talk to. Age of Wonders might fit the bill, too.

You might also enjoy Master of Magic (from the same team that created Master of Orion), which plays like a mix of Civilization and HoMM: empire building with lots of tactical fighting.

As for RTSs, Stronghold might be good for you as you seem to like RTS and medieval settings.

and of course, Sacrifce! SACRIFICE! SACRIFICE! SACRIFICE! I can't possibly convey in words how much I hated this one. To say it sucked the sweat off a dead man's balls would be an insult to sucking sweat off a dead man's balls. Did I mention I didn't like Sacrifice, because just in case you didn't pick up on that, I assure you I do. I can only imagine what sort of brainless asshole likes this game and I have to wonder, why do we even allow someone like that to live?

Man, that's a little harsh. :O

Pretty sneaky, sis.
I second mistermumbles with King's Bounty, sounds right up your alley. Very attractive graphics, and particularly good if you only have time for one or two battles before having to go do something else. You won't forget too much of what you were doing. :)
Sacrifice .
If you liked Disciples you'll probably like Heroes of Might and Magic. III is generally considered the best, although Chronicles is good if you like more story and less of a challenge.
I'm gonna recommend the Heroes of Might and Magic series, especially 2,3 and 5. A lot of people dislike 5 because it changed the setting from the first 4 games but I found the updated graphics refreshing. Plus the new setting and storyline is such a desperate attempt at a Warhammer Fantasy clone and I have such affection for the grimdark world that I get a kick out of playing.

I also recommend Warlords Battlecry 3, a slightly dated RTS that is like WC2+expansions but more dynamic and slower-paced:You've got time to build and find things without having a "Zerg Rush" attack.

Edit:Seconding Stronghold series, although I was hesitant to do so because eventually the missions do grow extremely fast-paced and vary greatly from "build this next tier of structures" to "Try to siege this heavily fortified enemy castle with a handful of laddermen and some archers. Uh, good luck!" so YMMV

Based on your liking Fantasy Wars, I'd say you're likely to like the King's Bounty series (begin with King's Bounty: The Legend) and the Etherlords series (begin with Etherlords 2).
I also loved Elemental war of magic. It is definitely one of those games where you can get allot more out of it by learning and using the map editor. I can say the same for Civilisation 3,.... MAP EDITOR!

And i forgot to mention civ2 - brilliant, like it more than 3 or 4 and 5 will remain a complete and utter dud in my view until they fix the unit tile limit bug,, ah em ,, , attribute, (if not already fixed).

Since you liked Fantasy Wars, I would recommend that you try its sequel, Elven Legacy. Unfortunately, it is not available on GOG, but GamersGate has a DRM-Free version.
