I severely injured my back and was off for 6 months, during that time I became depressed and about a year after the initial issue I told them that it wasnt worth thier while holding the position open as it looked like it would be some time before I would become fit to return to work.

Man, that sucks. I once injured my lower back muscles during football (soccer, whatever), and I was out for most of the month. It's probably worst kind of injury because you can't be comfortable no matter how you try to sit / sleep. I hope you managed to put that behind you, and of course good luck on your interview.

Yeah, I managed to crush one of the discs (lower back) and the one up from it became mushroomed during the recovery, Bye Bye 6 months of my life.
Soooo... I assume you still don't have any result?

Nothing yet. I think there's a three day period for interviewees to appeal before they can offer the successful candidate the job (this is standard practice in Local Authorities).

I wrongly assumed that "a decision will be made on Thursday evening / Friday morning" would mean I actually get to hear the outcome by then. Or it could be down to the fact that there were no HR people on the interview panel, which resulted in a bit of mis-information.

I should hear by Wednesday at the latest.
Didn't get it.

Too bad :( I keep my fingers crossed until you found a new job. Even if that means, that I have to work handicapped :)

Yup, the application was a nice quick copy & paste job too! The only problem is that our voluntary redundancy scheme ends at the end of the month, so I'll have to decide whether to take a slightly lower compensation package in the hope of landing a job within 3 months, or holding out for a bigger payout in September.

Crappy that :(

I see you have started to apply to another job, best of luck with that!
sorry you didnt get the job nmillar.

I had my interveiw at 10 this morning and what a farse, although they sent a letter out with todays date and time on it. the recruitment consultant was on holiday so I was interviewed by the owner that doesny know what his own company actually does.

Anyway they say theyll get back to me "very soon" though I take that with a wheelbarrow full of salt.
